Rep. Joe Walsh and Tammy Duckworth had a debate the other day in their campaign for Walsh’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, giving Walsh the opportunity to declare that he thought abortion should be illegal in all cases — including rape, incest and even the life of the mother:
Walsh said he was against abortion “without exception,” including rape, incest and in cases in which the life or health of the mother was in jeopardy.
Asked by reporters after the debate if he was saying that it’s never medically necessary to conduct an abortion to save the life of a mother, Walsh responded, “Absolutely.”
“With modern technology and science, you can’t find one instance,” he said. “… There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing.”
This puts him on the extreme edge of the extreme edge of the anti-
abortion woman movement. But one would think that Walsh, who famously didn’t pay his child support to the tune of more than $100,000, would be in favor of abortion so he doesn’t get stuck paying for those kids.
