Mat Staver: Totally Not an Alarmist

Mat Staver, dean of the Liberty University Law School and the man I frequently refer to as the dumbest lawyer in America, was on the radio with his personal Tonto, Matt Barber, and he explained that he’s not an alarmist, but if Obama wins this election it will destroy all of Western civilization. But don’t worry, he’s not an alarmist.Makes you wonder what an actual alarmist might sound like.

Dumbest lawyer in America? There’s pretty stiff competition for that title from Orly Taitz and Larry Klayman amongst others.

    SLC –
For once you and I are in agreement! “Hot ice and wonderous strange snow”.
From what I have read, perhaps Mr. Staver should be called ‘the primus inter pares of dumb American lawyers’.

Does the loss of some tiny fracion of white power and privilege really scare these idiots that much?

Or is he just lying to shill his booklet?

  4. Dunc says

Well, if blog comments are to be believed, “actual alarmism” is acknowledging that AGW is real and that we might need to do something about it.

Everyone should keep all their alarmist, viral email and return it to the sender in a year or two with an accuracy scorecard. They do about as well as the psychics in the National Enquirer.

Are we including Orly Taitz in this assessment ?

If Obama wins, Cthulhu will wake up, the Reapers will invade and the war between Amber and the Courts of Chaos will resume on Earth.
And if you want to criticize me for talking about fiction, know that Staver did it first.

Shouldn’t University and Law School be in quotes?

University, Liberty, Law, and School should all be in quotes.

  9. keithb says

Well, if I have to explain it…

It is the codename for “when the stars are aligned” and there is a Lovecraftian apocolypse in Stross’ Laundry novels.

As a fellow attorney, I don’t think you non-lawyers appreciate how difficult it is to be the dumbest lawyer in America. Just sayin’.

Yeah! Take that DVD to your churches, you know – those non-political havens where leaders do nothing to influence your vote. Can you say “Tax exempt?”

You all scoff, but I am alarmed!

When a guy like this can be named ‘Dean’ of anything and get air time on any radio station, even one whose audience has a median IQ that matches the median frequency of the FM band, I find it alarming. I’m all for free speech, but shouldn’t your ability to respond to stimulus exceed phototropism before you’re allowed to preach to people? There are actually people, eligible to vote, that listened to this guy.

Maybe Mat Staving off Sanity meant that some right-wing nutcases will become so unhinged by Obama being re-elected that they will (literally) drop a bombshell on Western civilization, wiping it out.
