Wow, add Dinesh D’Souza’s mistress, Denise Odie Joseph II, to the list of women who think women’s suffrage was a bad idea. On her blog in January she wrote this really weird, rambling post that purports to be about hypocrisy but goes on about “RINO (Republican in Name Only) dads” and included this gem:
RINO Republicans are analogous to fathers who proudly proclaim their conservativeness at dinner parties or perhaps during early afternoon phone calls to El Rusbo’s show, but let their “independently-minded” wives (translation–women who get their marching orders from St. Oprah or more recently, The View ) pump their teenagers full of birth control and encourage their daughters to live the lives for which their bra-burning foremothers fought so valiantly. Indeed, this particular post was inspired by one such RINO Dad I know exceedingly well, at exactly one such dinner party, several years ago.
RINO Dads are those guys who will sheepishly to proudly, fill out Republican ballots on Election Day while their wives openly mark their support for things like, “freedom of choice” and “freedom from poverty.” What most people don’t realize, and indeed what I didn’t realize until I blocked out the “madding crowd,” is that these women and their RINO men are like a vast national living history museum, pictographically illustrating exactly why the 19th Amendment was never the best idea ever and in fact, more closely resembles the greatest show on Earth. Think Ringling Bros. If these modern families keep at it, museums telling the hieroglyphical tales of our civilization might be all that is left of us.
And to make it even funnier, this paragraph:
In addition to saying he would vote for Ron Paul should Paul become the party nominee, Rick Santorum has something else right. Santorum has been the only candidate to acknowledge, if not with terrible clarity, and if not to much avail, that the family unit is the cornerstone of American society. Santorum meekly hints that the horrific number of single-mom (pause to pay homage) headed households are, in some way, shape, or form, a symptom and cause of our crumbling economy. However, unlike Santorum who timidly proffers his thesis (unless I’m missing something) I would like to stand up and stick my figurative finger in the face of every RINO Politician and man and ask, “Whatever happened to good ole hypocrisy?!”
Perhaps you should ask your pro-family fiance.

When thinking about the great recession, I always forget how the credit crisis and insurance denials on toxic assets of the big banks tied so closely to the number of single moms in this country.
I’m sure she could remind me how single moms are to blame for the deregulation of the financial industry that removed safeguards that have been in place since the Great Depression ended.
I’ll wait…

C’mon, look at it on the bright side.
At least she is D’Souza’s intellectual and moral equal.
Which is pretty far down the rabbit hole. I like how she thinks Rick Santorum, the Dark Age Pope wannabe, is too moderate.
A lot of the fundies really do deeply yearn for a New Dark Age. This woman seems to want to go back to biblical times, somewhere around early Iron Age. When half your kids died before you they were 5, slavery was common, and most people never lived past 40.

The intra religious hatred was a nice touch.
Fundie xianity is based on hate. Hatred for other xians, women, nonwhites, Democrats, nonxians, science and scientists, atheists, Pagans, etc..
When they get bored hating all of those, they hate each other. And every once in a while, they end up hating themselves.
Hard to say what is after that. Maybe they just hate life in general and theirs in particular.

There are a lot of proofs that the gods don’t exist.
The fundies and Denise Joseph are two of them.
If there was a god, Denise would be forced to live in the world she wants, not the one we have.
It would look a lot like Afganistan or Somalia. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about women voting, driving cars, or being allowed out in public without a male relative escort.

D’sousza claims in an interview with Christianity Today that he had no idea that getting engaged to another woman before he was officially divorced was un-kosher. Seriously:
“The thing I will admit: I did not have any idea that it is seen as wrong in Christian circles to be engaged prior to being divorced even though separated. … That was a true error of judgment, but it was truly a case where I didn’t know better.”

D’Souza (and I guess his finance too now) may want to reconsider making public statements for a while. His income is likely dependent on speaking fees and keeping his name in dialog. At the rate they are going, they’ll alienate nearly everyone.
OTOH, I’m big on honesty and treating people proportionately. If he keeps up his rolling unintentional comedy tour maybe other apologists or hard line bad argument christians will reexamine their views.

Here’s a cheerful little children’s ditty I learned as a baby Fundie. When, around age 12 or so, I actually listened to the words I’d been singing, I was horrified:
This world is not my home, I’m just a’passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
Etc.

Apparently D’Souza knows enough about what Christians consider wrong to think it was important to point out that, while they did share a hotel room, “nothing happened.” *Ahem*
Of course, two unmarried people of opposite sex and romantic inclination sharing a hotel room in the first place would probably be considered kind of dicey, too. But we are all sinners, etc. etc.
As for DOJII, the 19th Amendment would obviously have been a much better idea if men were less lackadaisical about “letting” their wives mark their support for things they shouldn’t be marking their support for. In order for this female suffrage thing to work properly, men need to maintain control over all the votes in the family. Otherwise, it’s a Family Circus. “Think Ringling Bros” with Dolly running around leaving those little dotted lines behind her.

I guess that depends on what you mean by “Christian.” I am pretty sure Willard Romney’s grandpa and great-grandpa didn’t bother to divorce one wife before getting engaged to another, but apparently that’s also a no-no among fundies. Of course, John McCain actually got one marriage license in Arizona while still legally married to his wife in California (although he didn’t use the license until his divorce was final), so maybe it IS ok – I have to admit I am confused.

@Kermit, Woody Guthrie wrote a retort to that song;
Now as I look around, it’s mighty plain to see
This world is such a great and a funny place to be;
Oh, the gamblin’ man is rich an’ the workin’ man is poor,
And I ain’t got no home in this world anymore.
And here´s my favourite rejoinder to those hymns that urge the poor person to be meek and wait for their reward in heaven;
You will eat, bye and bye,
In that glorious land above the sky;
Work and pray, live on hay,
You’ll get pie in the sky when you die.
…could have been written yesterday.

What is with all the women hating all of a sudden? With the MRA’s and their particular brand of public hatefulness and all these women speaking out about how women shouldn’t be allowed to speak out (and that is one weird sentence to type out)? Has this always been going on and I just was not aware? Or have we turned a corner where it is ok to smack-talk on the ladies (and then pretty soon just smack I imagine.) Is it the publicity and coverage from the middle east where fundies see women in burkas and not allowed to drive or even go out in public and they are thinking –”Oh, yeah. We should get us some of that.” Or is it a Mormon running, or the Tea Party, maybe the Koch Bros. are sending out newsletters about the rightful place for pregnant-ignorant-barefooters.
W-T-F?
Burkas might not catch on around here but should I be starting up a prairie-skirt and homespun shop for non-uppity women? Only accepting payment from their menfolk though. Maybe require that the women…girls I mean – show a permission slip that indicates that they are there with adult male approval?

Well, turns out that D’inesh D’souza has “resigned” from his $1 million gig at his Christian college. The board and the trustees were miffed at him for not doing anything worthwhile for that kinda money, and decided to dump the cheating hypocrite.
Not because he cheated, but because he was too busy promoting the racist flick on Obama, and not earning his CEOship or D’ean-ship or whatever the fuck he is supposed to be doing as the head of a Christian college.
Here, feast your eyes on D’souza’s d’emise for his fling with D’enise while being married to D’ixie.

The very idea that D’souza is taken as a serious intellectual by the right with his batshit crazy ideas on education, racism, evolution, atheism, role of Christianity in history, Obama; ie virtually everything he has ever said and done, is perfect proof of the utter totally depravity and bankrupcy of conservativism. Of course conservatives today are really little more than paid lapdogs for their corporate taskmaskers and billionaire think tank talking points. I could care less about D’souza’s philandering since all the damage he really has done comes through his true moral offense – nonstop verbal philandering – lately from all his moronic ass groupies he made a true killing off of – 2016. If PT Barnum were alive today he’d definitely would mop the floor posing as a conservative.
