What do you get when you get the fanatical anti-gay bigot Peter LaBarbera on the radio with Judith Reisman, the nutball who thinks porn releases “erototoxins” that destroy the brain (then again, I imagine she’s watched a lot of porn in her “research” and her brain is clearly not working well)? You get predictable lunacy like this:
LaBarbera: Homosexual activists in many ways drive our culture, they decide what’s going to be in a movie, we see all the portrayals, homosexuals are the most positively portrayed in the movies and on TV, Christians are often negatively portrayed and stereotyped. In many ways, in fact Judith you are Jewish, I think you’re starting to see Hollywood what they’re doing to Christians and to people of faith who actually adhere to traditional values, they’re demonizing them like the Nazis used to do to the Jews. They would compare Jews to rats and we see these vicious, ugly caricatures of Christians coming out of Hollywood. How did we go from that in such a short amount of time to homosexuality being deviant conduct which wasn’t spoken about to now driving our culture?
Reisman: You answered it. I mean it’s not that much time when you think that Germany, Hitler’s Germany, I think was twenty years that went from a basically conservative German culture to the films being controlled by—I forgot which one—and the films being made that described what you are now describing for Christians well that was what they were doing for Jews and actually they included Christians in there quite often too, and the schools were taken over by the fascist government and the children were told that their parents, who were old-fashioned, were old-fashioned and you know you don’t have to tell your parents, you mustn’t tell your parents, what you’re learning here in school. They gutted the libraries of anything that was Christian in belief and they pulled down the Ten Commandments. You had the Ten Commandments all over the walls of the schools in Germany, just like we had in the United States of America, and so they had removed all the Ten Commandments and they put up of course Hitler. Well here in the United States we removed the Ten Commandments but we didn’t put up Hitler we put up the AIDS posters, which is just as telling, isn’t it?
Yep. Christians will be thrown into the ovens any day now. Just you wait.

I’m prolly just an outlier–one of the lucky few–but every time my brain is attacked by erototoxins my autonomic and immune systems spring erect and present a rigid defense. They then expel the erototoxins and, y’know, it doesn’t feel half-bad. Is it my eyes or is the print getting hard to read on this screen?

The Nazi’s had absolute power over German society but they didn’t want parents to know that included the schools? Would adults not have noticed who was ruling them?

Who knew that in 1933 some 76% (or more) of Germans were, at the very least, cultural Jews*? (That’s about 50.16 million).

Hollywood ! = government.
But apart from that…when has Hollywood depicted Christians as vermin? When has anyone with any power and influence done so?
I get the feeling that if one guy in Seattle makes a cartoon that makes fun of Pat Robertson, that would be enough in this idiot’s mind to claim endemic defamation of Christians in America.

I wonder how many Americans listen to drivel like that and nod their heads in agreement? Hundreds of millions, or only tens of millions?

A fair point, though I see no shortage of positively portrayed Christians in our media as well. Lourdes, from Falling Skies, and the entire community from Lars and The Real Girl spring to mind as a worthy examples. When I think of those fictional Christians, bad and good, I can’t help but wonder why LaBarbera has chosen to emulate the former.

I think it may be time for Gary Larson to update that cartoon about the guys in lab coats with the dog language decoder device. Replace the dogs with BK Whoppers* and it’s pretty much the KKKristian ReiKKKwingers going, “Hey,hey, hey, lookatme, hey, hey, hey!!”

Strange. If I was going to make a comparison with the Nazis, I would note that the portrayal of gays in the OP is pretty much identical to the portrayal of Jews in the earlier Nazi propaganda.

The smarter bigots will acknowledge that Hitler appeared to be a Christian, but that was just a sociopath’s manipulation of the crowd. (A True Scotsman fallacy.) This may be true, but that only means that Hitler knew that acting like a Christian would enable him to persuade the good Christians of Germany to cooperate with the Nazi party.
I will leave any comparisons of such behavior to current GOP politicians in the US as an exercise for the reader.

It is not inconsistent to hate hatred, and you are not intolerant if you are intolerant of intolerance.
I’m sick of that stupid excuse.

The lions don’t need ‘em cooked first.
In any case, it’s the babies that taste better roasted. Adults are tough, and are perhaps better braised. The fat is a problem, de-grease frequently and dispose of responsibly.

So much of what follows that is incoherant, but I think she’s trying to claim the Nazis were a reaction to the “conservative German culture”, but German culture was anything but conservative during the Weimar Republic and was likely less conservative than she things even under the Kaiser. The Nazis were in part a conservative backlash against the Weimar culture.

Ironically, bigots used to claim that Hollywood was controlled by the Jews.
I always find it weird when fundjelicals find common cause with Jewish people. I wonder if Reisman realize that she’s just further down on their Convert or Die list.

The thing about German history is, the hatred towards Jews extended far back before Hitler, and anti-semitism and german racial pride were things Neitzche railed against and Wagner promoted. That had been going on for so long that to think Hitler (or Versailles) somehow changed the whole society is total ignorance.
And they are being rather mendacious when they say homosexuality was “not talked about”. It sure as hell was, it was constantly demonized and gays were dehumanized just like they complain about.
Of course, this could be another one of those things where what someone is afraid of says more about them than it does their presumed opponents. They are afraid of concentration camps and prison and not letting people speak their minds in public, because that’s exactly what they want to do to gay men and women.

I frequent a few conservative blogs, and I’ve seen some there claiming that ‘soon their opinions on things like same-sex marriage will be illegal’.
A couple times, I’ve asked, “The Westboro Baptist Church gets explicit legal protection for their activities. In what areas do you think that WBC doesn’t go far enough?”
Somehow I’ve never gotten an answer to that one.

I know that drawing the HITLER card is bad style, but don’t these morons know that the Nazi sent tens of thousands of gays to concentration camps, with a death rate of almost 60%? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_homosexuals_in_Nazi_Germany_and_the_Holocaust]
Their main argument was the prevention of contagion and the protection of family values… exactly as today’s US-gay haters argue.

Yes, if by “the most positively portrayed” you mean that they’re not depicted as crazed perverts and murderers as much as they used to be.

Really todays bigots are being treated even worse than Jews under Hitler. At least the holocaust was a comparatively quick death, prior to which you got to live in a small enclave where you were never forced to associate with people of other religions and you were free from communist impositions like state regulated health care.
LaBarbera and Reisman, however, are forced to live in a slowly progressive society where they are ridiculed and insulted for their heinous beliefs until they die of natural causes after suffering the indignity of watching the rest of the world leave their hatred and superstition behind.
Truly, the holocaust Jews were the lucky ones.

No, otrame, you have it all wrong. In Nazi Germany, a small cabal of Jews were depicted as controlling all the financial markets. In modern America, fundies claim a small cabal of TEH GAYZ control the whole entertainment industry. It’s totally different.
BTW, I presume all Godwin rules are suspended for this post?

Well played, sir!
As for de-greasing braised bigots. I find it is best to marinate them in their own juices for several days, then them roast, on the bone, fat side up in a very slow oven.
