No sooner did Billy Graham endorse Mitt Romney for president than his website was quietly scrubbed of all the anti-Mormon statements that appeared on it previously, including several pages calling Mormonism a cult. The New Civil Rights Movement reports:
Today, the Sacramento Bee and other media outlets, including Graham’s own website, posted Graham’s statement endorsing Mitt Romney for president, and two commenters posted a link to the 2010 Graham statement classifying the Mormon religion as a cult. Hours later, that page no longer exists…
Additionally, a search for the word “Mormon” on Billy Graham’s website identifies six pages, yet none of those pages have the word “Mormon” on them as of this writing, yet most of them still have the word “cult” on them.
Well isn’t that convenient? I guess a Mormon is better than a Muslim atheist Black Liberation Theology Christian socialist communist fascist.

It’s probably just advance preparation, because Graham knows he’ll be baptised Mormon after he dies.

A good Christian like Grahamn never would lie or be hypocritical – as long as past lies and hypocrisy can be deleted.

Let’s be fair. It’s not Billy doing this. It’s his odious son, Franklin.
Billy is senile as senile can be. Depends-senile. Reminded to chew senile.
Franklin has firm control over the Graham empire. All those glorious donations. All that property. All that undeserved respect. All that unbridled, unfettered power.
Billy’s just waiting to check out.

Ed, I love how you keep changing the mix of apt and in-apt mutually contradictory adjectives.
–>”a Muslim atheist Black Liberation Theology Christian socialist communist fascist.”
Were I someone who held Mr.Graham in esteem, this retcon behaviour would put me off. Instead, I find it par for the xtian US religious leaders.

The Southern Baptists do have an official position on Mormonism. It’s a false cult and they are all going to hell.
The two cults have a long standing animosity. Both are missionary religions. The SBC accuses the Mormons of stealing their members while simultaneously trying to convert Mormons to Baptists.
So what is going on now? It is clear that they hate us more than they hate each other.
The SBC was taken over by right wing extremists in the mid 20th century. It’s just right wing politics with a few crosses stuck on it here and there.
They say they want to save your soul. What they really want are the normal human drives for money, power, and sex.

That never stops them.
Hypocrisy is one of the three sacred principles of fundie-ism. The others are lies and hate.

The news isn’t all bad.
The SBC has lost members for 5 years in a row.
The hate, lies, hypocrisy, and right wing extremist politics just isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
They know they have a problem. But they are trapped. They can’t get rid of the hate, lies, and hypocrisy. That is all they have. No hate = No SBC

Well, if the rightwing Catholic/Protestant alignment is any indicator, within a generation we’ll have Protestants actively working to ban caffeinated drinks.

The worst thing that could have happened in this country: the right wing religious groups stopped fighting each other, and banded together to fight against gays and women. That’s happened. Now we need to be afraid – be very afraid. Why can’t they just go back to happily debating the relative salvation merits of dunking vs. sprinkling, and whether praying to Mary is idolatry or not? Then they’d have much less power, and the rest of us could settle down to the business of keeping the world running as smoothly as possible with so many crazies in it.

Like that is going to help or change anything.
Although to say that Romney and the christofascists don’t appall me is an understatement. I fall into several of their To Hate categories.
If they win, the next task will be just to survive the minimum of two lost generations. I won’t be alive for the recovery, assuming there is a recovery.

Financial survival plan Well, I’m working on it now without too much to show for it. This is going to be the tough one. Bush murdered my 401(K) plan along with a few tens of millions of others. It is about where it was in 2000 if you net out contributions.
The Federal Reserve projects recovery from the Bush Catastrophe around 2018. Chances are very high that Romney will crash the economy again. It’s very fragile right now. And it is obvious they could care less.
During the Bush Catastrophe, one of my friends moved her considerable and self made bank accounts into Canadian dollars. That proved to be a smart move.

Clearly it is more important that the GOP hold the White House than that we combat the wiles of Satan by which he drags the souls of so many off to Hell.
And people wonder why the nones just cleared 20% …

Let’s not.
Billy Graham sired and raised that odious piece of shit, Frankie*. He had ample opportunity to observe his son over the course of many years.
Fuck hagiography. Billy put Frankie in the position he now holds. Sins of the father and all that.
* In fact, “Frankie” is his name from now on, in my book. He’s a hustler, just like his daddy, only with an extra helping of “fuck everybody that ain’t me.”.
