Religious right loony Rick Joyner bizarrely claims that Hillary Clinton has been “advocating using Sharia and honoring Sharia law.” Uh, what? When? Please quote something that even suggests such a thing. Remember when the wingnuts threw a fit about Clinton urging mostly Muslim nations not to criminalize being gay? Hey, whatever works.

Religious right loony Rick Joyner bizarrely claims that Hillary Clinton has been “advocating using Sharia and honoring Sharia law.”… Remember when the wingnuts threw a fit about Clinton urging mostly Muslim nations not to criminalize being gay?
Remember when the clowns presented evidence that the US courts were implementing Sharia…that was a list of court cases that actually did the opposite?
These fools are so deluded that they may really have read about Clinton opposing anti-gay laws in the Muslim world and thought it was all about the promotion of Sharia.

Clinton recently met with Egypt’s new President, Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood. What more proof do you need?

I will not be surprised when I encounter a wingnut who asserts that Sharia is inherently pro-LGBT. (Someone will probably give me an example from several years ago.) They did it for Hitler, after all.
Given recent events, I won’t be surprised when I find one arguing that feminism is a Sharia conspiracy.

Well, yes, but they did grant Muslims their day in court, listened to their argument before dismissing them, and also did not seize this opportunity to have them executed, their possessions confiscated, and their children given to loving christian families. You can see that this was obviously a sign of craven submission to Sharia law, which I am pretty sure state that Muslims should not have their possessions, children and lives stolen from them as punishment for being Muslims.

Well: take the Talibans.
The Talibans are men
The Talibans hate women
Therefore the Talibans can only love other men
Therefore the Talibans are Gays

disclaimer: I am not a wingnut
@ Bronze Dog:
As a matter of fact, the mullahs in Iran have interpreted sharia as not being anti-transgender. They allow Gender Reassignment Surgery, at least in the case of male-to-females. In fact GRS is urged on one member of gay couples as a way to avoid penalties for homosexuality. Allah is sooooo merciful.

I’m not a mind-reader, but I would assume that to the Rick Joyner’s of the world, Clinton simply criticizing the “Innocence of Muslims” video would be an example of her “advocating Sharia and honoring Sharia law.”

The logic is simple;
1. We hate Democrats.
2. We hate Muslims.
3. We hate women.
Therefore, Democrats & Muslims & women are all in league against us. Hillary Clinton is advocating Sharia law!!!1!1!!
Simple logic for simple people.

Well, I gotta admit that I totally agree with the first fifteen seconds of what Rick Joyner said about Sharia law treating women outrageously and appallingly.
The rest of what he spewed, not-so-much.
No Hilary Clintonisn’t an advocate of Sharia law.
However, the Progressive Left should by rights* be even more opposed to Sharia law and the spreading of fundamentalist Islam than the Conservative religious right is.
—–
* By values actually, the left supposedly being tolerant, pro-women, anti-capital & cruel and brutal punishment, soft on crime, pro-gay rights, non-racist (including in theory at least anti-Semitism / Judaeophobia) and all. Looking at what real Islamists and Sharia law advocates favour and are arguing for it truly baffles me why the political Left isn’t much more anti-Islam and anti-Sharia law than it sometimes appears.

I’d have thought that was obvious. In the political and cultural battles going on, with a lot of people on the right saying “those darned muslims are all sick and evil and sharia is of the devil!”, you have to be much more nuanced to distinguish your opinion from those of the bigots. It’s up to the left to champion freedom of religion, multiculturalism and tolerance. A proper progressive criticism of Islam and Sharia is much more difficult to make in this atmosphere – you have to try to be both accurate and critical, while accepting and tolerant of diversity.

You mean you think the Left should be so opposed to Sharia that they should do whatever it takes to stop it, even if in the end everybody is far worse off than if Sharia was allowed to spread?
I guess that’s the difference between the Left and the Right.
The Left is opposed to Sharia because they want everyone to be able to live prosperous, fullfilled lives.
The Right is opposed to Sharia because they are mired in an ideology based on resentment, fear, and hate.
