Even by wingnut standards, Brian Camenker, head of the group MassResistance, is one of the worst and looniest of the bigots. When he hears about gay people being in the closet, he actually thinks they’re in his closet, waiting for him to fall asleep so they can turn him gay or something. Here he is in an interview on a Christian radio show claiming that the FBI has turned gay and will now start persecuting “pro-family” groups.
Camenker: It’s unbelievable. The FBI is just unbelievable to see. They have started a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender program on their careers website and they apparently have even gone from there to embracing the gay agenda, having a gay advisory committee, welcoming homosexuals as FBI agents, getting involved with pride events, but more than that going to gay pride events and encouraging homosexual activists to report hate crimes and working with them against pro-family groups. So this is what we’re seeing the FBI doing according to their own writings and according to the writings of the gay newspapers. We have one on our website, one of the gay newspapers in San Francisco, ‘FBI Encourages LGBTs to Report Hate Crimes,’ it is very, very frightening to see. The FBI is very powerful and they can do a lot of damage if they are out to get you…
Camenker: When an individual describes himself as being gay or lesbian, transgender or something, invariably that person is hostile to the pro-family position and is vigorous about pushing the entire agenda. We’ve seen that in the schools, we’ve seen that all over the place. We’re really scared about the FBI being this out homosexual organization.
In his fevered imagination, the mere fact of not refusing to hire gay people as agents and wanting to protect them from violence by applying the law makes the FBI a “homosexual organization.” How about that. He also claimed in that appearance that the only reason we don’t consider homosexuality a mental disorder is because terrorists changed the definition.
Homosexuality and transgenderism and all of these things have traditionally been considered mental illness issues, in fact the transgenderism still is, it was only through an extreme terrorist movement in the medical community that changed that.
Yes, I’m sure we still remember when trained psychologists blew up the Empire State Building and demanded that the DSM IV be changed in the early 70s.

Brian Camenker:
Imagine how frightening that type of message would be to husbands in the 1800s who beat and abused their wife and kids, where they existed in a reality with no fear someone would take that right from them.

It makes me long for the days of Hoover. He would have kept those cross-dressing homos out.

… If you intend to harm people for being gay. For normal people, it’s not frightening at all.

If there were an afterlife the FBI turning gay would put Hoover’s panties in bunch.

Is it even possible to read this:
without laughing and thinking, “these guys are nuts!”? For crying out loud, do they really think that LGBTs should just sit there and be beaten and killed?*
*Sadly, I don’t really need the answer to this.

Maybe some psychologist could jump in help us understand why they always react that way?

I’ve had the misfortune of encountering Brian Camenker before. He reminds me of that kid from Sixth Sense except it’s gay people he sees everywhere. He only wishes they were dead.

To be honest, anyone who likes and supports families is hostile to the “pro-family” position.

Replace “gay” with “black” and you pretty much have exactly the same screed that was being written in the 60s and 70s.
On the other hand, maybe being preoccupied with gays will distract them hating on the people of color.

I read the head line and wondered if that means were I going to gay clubs I’d be walking into a FBI sting.
It seems faintly ludicrous.
Also, parts and wholes fallacy.

Well, I read the headline and was suddenly concerned about the Fashion Buyer’s Institute — but then I saw that I just needed to read further.

Funny you should mention that. Here’s Brian Camenker talking about Jim Crow laws.
Get that, non-discrimination laws, diversity training, and pride events are the new Jim Crow and he’s the victim. They don’t make irony meters strong enough to withstand this crank.

He’s right. The Democrats just introduced H.R. 6666, to amend the name of the FBI to Fabulous Bureau of Investigation.

“Pro-family” doesn’t mean “supportive of families”, of course. It means “doesn’t want to let icky gay people have families”.

I wonder if they noticed that this might be because the FBI put a lot of these “pro-family” groups at the top of their domestic terrorism watch list about 10 years ago?

I am proud to work for the feds. I am confident that when I do come out, this bureau has my back. They are extremely progressive in their protection for LGBT employees, passing a full ENDA before the EEOC even did. If people are worried about catching the queer, they can go work for someone else.

I can’t wait to see the FABULOUS new dress code the FBI will be using…
(It’s kind of funny…at one point in the early ’70s, the FBI decided to take a look at SF cons. Somebody I know spotted one of them–the only guy in the place wearing a 3-piece suit, so he kind of stood out in the crowd–and went over and poked him in the bulge in his armpit and said “Hi!” Eventually they got permission to “dress down” so they’d blend in better…)

Oh horrors, we might have to give up assaulting teh gays? Next you’ll tell me they’ve started persecuting rapists! How else will I alleviate the dissonance caused by living in a culture of sociopathic ideologies if I can’t violently lash out at others to assert my relative dominance? I might be forced to face the fact that everything I hold sacred is a lie, inculcated to allow the exploitation of the masses by a small, elite caste!

Is this a glimpse of the truth ? Are they protecting someone, or are they afraid of being caught ? With those nutcases you never know…
