Here’s a delightfully idiotic rant from faith-healing fraud Cindy Jacobs, claiming that she “prophecied” that 2011 would have terrible weather patterns and disasters because of Obama’s “anti-Biblical” policies. She says that 2011 was “the worst year for weather-related disasters in our history, and I was mocked everywhere for that because they don’t understand spiritual things.” Oh, and it’s going to get worse.
A tale of two “prophecies.” Jacobs and her fellow wingnuts claim that God sends bad weather and that extreme weather events are going to increase because of “anti-Biblical” policies; scientists say that extreme weather events are increasing because of global warming. The former can provide no evidence at all, or even any logical argument, for that conclusion; the latter can point to the warmer oceans and demonstrate the relationship to stronger atmospheric conditions and a whole range of negative outcomes.
I’ve got an idea. Let’s give Cindy Jacobs her own weather report and let her predict bad weather based on faith, and we’ll compare that to the predictions of the National Weather Service. I’ll bet every cent I have that the latter will be far more accurate.

Ms. Jacobs should be informed that even half-wits who concede science is correct on climate science can predict wingnuts like her will increasingly blame liberals for the increasing harm we are and will suffer due to climate change.
In two generations Glenn Beck’s intellectual progenies will be claiming conservatives fought liberals to achieve equal rights for gays, rather than gays being the cause of hurricanes and tornadoes. While also subscribing to what science rather than religion understands as the reason why God is punishing us with global warming.

Based upon empirical evidence, I would like to postulate the following law: There is no event, human-caused or natural, that a fundie nutjob will not attempt to blame on Obama.
Further, the following corollary is posited: Time is not a factor is the application of the law.
In other words, it does not matter when the event occured relative to Obama’s birth and eventual death. It will still be blamed on him.

Larry, are you saying that Obama is the real life Emmanuel Goldstein?

But earthquakes are caused by immodestly-dressed women.

Oh sweet baby monkey jebus, how can anyone stand to listen to that voice for more than a minute at a time?
But of course the upswing in severe weather is caused by an angry Gawd in the sky. I mean, the fundies have closed their mind to the idea of global climate change, so they have to make up some excuse. Though I’ve yet to hear any of these nutjobs explain why churches suffer through the weather just as much as the rest of the community.
Maybe those churches weren’t Real Christian™ churches?

You silly skeptics – she means “spiritual weather” – phenomenologists can’t even see it. Kind of like the “spiritual end of the world” that we all missed.
Anyway as for real weather: hurricanes peaked with W. http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/E11.html
and tornadoes: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/gld/?n=tornadographs.html
yup GW again.
Maybe she is right!

I don’t get it. If this deity is as all-powerful as they say he is, wouldn’t it have been quicker and less messy to just rig the ’08 election?
Who decided to give all that omnipotence to a being with the emotional stability of a 3 year old with ADHD anyway?

As I have said before, when my parents punished me when I was a kid, they always told me exactly what I was being punished for, and what the punishment would be. They weren’t perfect, and I wouldn’t say they always got it right, but they didn’t punish some random stranger across town without making any sort of announcement about it, and then expect me to just somehow figure out that the house fire across town was punishment for my staying out past curfew. They were also never cruel or arbitrary.
But if these people are right, that’s exactly how God punishes people. Not only that, but he makes the punishment look like perfectly unsurprising geological or meteorological events that happen all the time, like earthquakes along the Pacific rim, or hurricanes in the Gulf Coast during hurricane season.
Why doesn’t a supernatural event ever look supernatural? If God wants to get our attention, how about lifting the Empire State Building off of its foundation at high noon, twirling it around a few times, and then setting it back down with all the utility connections intact? Or, to borrow from a dimly remembered SF story I read as a kid, speaking on every radio, tv, stereo, or anything that will broadcast sound, simultaneously, with everyone hearing what he says in his/her own native language? This would be no more difficult for an omnipotent being than causing an earthquake in Mexico City.
Now THAT might give me some pause. A hurricane hitting New Orleans in the summer? Not so much.

— God will punish America with bad weather!
— Why? Because they screwed with the composition of the atmosphere by releasing more carbon dioxide than anyone else?
— NO: because they elected a guy who talked about funding solar death panels

Wow, what a hideous voice and accent. It’s almost a caricature–if an actor used that accent he or she would be panned. Goes perfectly with the crazy/evil stuff she is saying.

I like it! God is punishing the US with bad weather, and the worst effects are in the buckle of the bible belt. Give her credit for being aware of what’s happening (har!); she just hasn’t followed it through to its logical conclusion.
