Christian con man Jim Bakker told his audience — seriously, how does this guy have an audience? — that America is under a curse because of our sins and that God let 9/11 happen to get our attention. I especially like how his voice breaks to show how emotional he is about it all.

God LIHOP? So, why isn’t God in Guantanamo Bay, awaiting a military tribunal after undergoing “enhanced interrogation”?

Is he sure God is upset with America over abortion and secularism and not over adultery and accounting fraud?

So God, instead of being an all-knowing, omnipotent being, is nothing more than a right-wing terrorist who kills people through acts of terror and natural disasters.

Bakker’s god lets lots of stuff happen. One has little choice in such matters when one does not exist.

Uh Jim – You actually believe in an invisible sky-fairy right? This alleged invisible sky fairy is omnipotent, right?
BAKKER: “God let 9/11 happen”.

The best part of the whole thing is the pitch at the bottom of the screen for the “fuel-less generator” that’s up there anytime he’s not citing some ridiculous statistic or bible verse. Expect any moment to see “if you call in the next 20 minutes, you’ll get a free prayer hanky personally anointed by Jim Bakker’s phlegm”.

I really wish there was a hell for pieces of shit like this this particularly foul piece of shit. If the religious idiots believed their own literature, they would be rejoicing that these people are now in heaven (or hell). He is doing it for donations. What would sending money to this scumbag do that a believer couldn’t do on their own?

Re; #9.
Married.
I saw a tee-shirt some years ago. It had smears of bright colors which, when you looked at it, you realized were a sort of spread out face. The caption was: I ran into Tammie Faye at the mall.

Aren’t these the same right-wing nutcases that went apeshit when they heard Rev. Wright said almost the exact same thing?

Let It Happen On Purpose, I think. It’s not one of the commoner acronyms.

Yes, Let It Happen On Purpose. “Bush LIHOP” is a slogan used by the moderate wing (!) of the “Truther” movement.

Aargh. He’s starting to look a lot like my best friend’s father, someone I really admired. Bunches of cognitive dissonance there.

Funny how blinkered Bakker and his ilk are. They think God is utterly obsessed with the US. Canada is more liberal than the US is many ways, such as allowing gay marriage. Yet for some reason God doesn’t bother punishing Canada, even though by their reasoning he should be even more pissed off with Canada than the US. You could say the same thing about numerous other countries.

@16 and @17: Thanks for the clarification…and I’m usually pretty good at deciphering unfamiliar acronyms when I look at the context in which they’re used (not this time!).
Anyway, it sounds like Bakker is denying the concept of free will with his “God let it happen” comment.

My favorite part is how they assumed that their audience wouldn’t know the word “reprobate”.

Tim, that’s because America was founded as a Christian Nation and the USA is an important part of God’s special plans, so he has to beat up on us once in a while so that we don’t stray from the plan.

So the hijackers were carrying out God’s will? Bakker apparently is encouraging jihad.
As if we needed further evidence of the similarities between extremist Christians and extremist Muslims.

What does he think that God could have done? Grab those airplanes and put them down in airports like what we’d do with toy airplanes?

These idiots practically equated George W. Bush with God while he was in office; so in that sense, Bakker is right: their stand-in for God really did let 9/11 happen, despite explicit warnings that some sort of attack was imminent.
