Wow. This video of Pat Robertson answering a question from a man who says his wife has become rebellious and won’t submit to him really has to be seen to be believed. And he says that the man should move to Saudi Arabia so he can beat her legally. He was clearly trying to make a joke about that, but he apparently realized just how bad that was because they edited it out of the video of the show on the CBN website. And notice how he does a complete psychological diagnosis of the man’s wife based on only a few sentences.

I love how Robertson’s co-host tries to sort of lead him away a bit.

So, Pat wants to live in a world in which people are beaten for being displeasing? Somehow, I suspect, he wouldn’t enjoy that.

@Marcus Ranum, #2:
Well no, not men, that would be ridiculous. Just women.

Pat Robertson’s front-and-center attendance at a post-convention Mitt Romney campaign rally doesn’t reconcile with Mrs. Romney’s convention speech assertion that they “love women”. I wonder which is true when it comes to public policy?

Seems consistent, this isn’t mindless violence this is correcting. God wants man to submit to him and women to to submit to man and children to submit to their parents. Sometime a person forgets where they stand in the pecking order and needs a little correction.
I don’t even slightly agree but the rationalization is they are helping the person.

Gee, an example of “fatwah envy” that doesn’t involve atheists for a change. And of course it’s being used on women — to remind them of what they’d really deserve if the Enlightenment with its picky secular scruples wasn’t so unaccountably popular at the moment.

I would only say this, any man who hits a women is a piece of garbage and any one who backs this is worse. Any one who abuses women is a coward and a person beyond contempt.I am male and totally believe in women rights to control their own bodies amd systems.
