When it comes to sheer stupid and crazy, Free Republic almost makes the Worldnutdaily look like Aristotle’s Lyceum. Here’s a perfect example, an inane screed by someone using the nickname CincyRichieRich that is so delightfully loopy that one could be forgiven for thinking it’s a Poe. First, he explains why he used “Obummer” in the headline instead of Obama:
First, I apologize to those offended by my purposeful title misspelling…we are in 1984 and they are watching, so I am protecting myself.
Why you brilliant schemer. I’m sure you’ve fooled Big Brother with your oh-so-clever alternate spelling. Then he claims that Obama is confident of winning reelection because Soros has rigged it all for him and because of non-existent voter fraud. Oh, and he’s not going to leave office even if he loses.
He is very confident, so much so that Biteme gaffes don’t concern him. Think about that. Is the election in the bag? Is it or could it be fixed already? Let me explain, which may be different thinking from what you’ve concluded about me already…
Ok, now the part which I’ve saved for last…that is, perhaps the plan that he is saving for Nov 9th to the day he’s supposed to leave office…that is the rulz for rad****s executive orders to “crash the system” with. I’m talking 100-200 such orders that he’ll simply do at such a rapid, purposeful pace that Boehner falls out and cries so much he has no tears left. This would cause unrest and be the answer why the military vehicles were doing rounds in St. Louis and other cities…why the purchases of am*o were made by our gov’t.
I am concluding he simply won’t leave office…this is why he is having so much fun and he uses B***n to gaffe w/out a worry. I actually think B***n isn’t in on the plan, and that perhaps 10 people including S***s are in on it.
Well, that’s it. Call me crazy if you wish.
Okay. You’re crazy. But no crazier than some of the commenters. Here’s the first one:
He’s confident because he has demonic backing…
wait… did I say that “out loud”?
Yep, you did. Thank you for showing that you’re a moron. A few more:
He is confident because he knows that the election process is a fraud and the fraudsters have selected him again. He is confident of a re-(s)election; so much so that he is barely campaigning…
You are assuming that there IS an election. I expect a ‘crisis’ so that martial law is implemented, and the election is ‘postponed’…
He only has to convince the electors of the electoral college, a significantly smaller group of seemingly pliable people. Remember that they, not the American People, elected the fraud in the White Hut…
He and his marxist wife immediately upon occupation replaced all of the books on liberty and republican government in the White House library with books on marxism, maoism, and a post-American world
This is a fever swamp of stupid.

But he’s right. Soros IS in on it. And so’s Romney.

Freeper:
This meme is believed by what goes for mainstream conservative Christians in my neck of the woods, thanks to a viral email containing a 2008 picture of then-Sen. Obama boarding a plane carrying Fareed Zakaria’s book, The Post-American World; that email then launches into a screed that the president is implementing a plan end the U.S.

You just know that when none of that comes true, they aren’t going to say to themselves, “Wow I was so wrong about that.. maybe I should re-evaluate why I think this way”.

A couple years back, a group of Freepers stumbled across a website I was writing for. Somehow, they got it in their heads that my co-bloggers and I were Red Chinese spies sent to illicitly influence American elections. Through blogging. I was nineteen at the time, by the way.
After I made fun of them (pretty much the only reason I was on that site, snark being big at the time), one of them claimed that he was sending our “information” to the FBI. Next thing you know, we’re being swarmed by goofy Freepers, a number of whom were trying to imitate our webmaster or me. Apparently, they didn’t realize that I could edit those comments to say whatever I wanted.
Point being, Freepers are goofy and paranoid, but I often forget how goofy and paranoid.

This is a poor example of a freeper post because lots of the poster’s fellow freepers called him out on his crazy. That usually doesn’t happen.
Freeper invasions are an awesome thing to behold by the way. They can provide days and days of entertainment on a single thread.

Silly you. That’s what a partly rational person would do. You don’t live in a world of narcissism where the only reason that bad things don’t happen is because of their constant vigil.

If Ob*m* has a demonic inside line then there is only one solution. If you really, really want*bama out of office you have to turn to G*D. Praying will be much more effective than voting so go to your church before the poles open and pray and fast until after the pols close. It is the only way to be s*re.

I’ve never been there before. Goodness.
One poster said, “His internals must be showing him something ominous because they’re spending money in NY and California, states that haven’t seen presidential election ads in decades.” I assume that the NY to which s/he was referring is on some other planet, because believe me, we have more than our share of Presidential election ads in this state on Planet Earth. I don’t think I’ll go back there again. It is much too silly a place and gave me a twitch.

The pure, distilled craziness of Free Republic is a wonder to behold. They are capable of believing almost anything and each post collects in its comments a complete array of logical fallacies (and the latest extremist fantasies) as the Freepers “analyze” political and cultural events.

I remember when Bush was going to declare martial law back in 2008 so he could stay in charge forever.

Of course! It’s so obvious: Obama controls the Electoral College! That’s why they call him “The Professor”.

You know, when you have to explain a joke, that’s a sign that it’s not really funny.

Hard to tell if the guy is serious or is just being a Poe to see how many people agree with him. These people are past the point of parody because there is probably nothing too ridiculous you could come up with that wouldn’t be embraced as true by them.

“Falls out”? “Boehner falls out”? What ever that means, there’s a joke in there somewhere.
I can only hope it means something to the effect that Boehner’s little plastic head explodes.

My favorite Freeper post weas the one by the person who thoguht they were an expert on economcis who claimed investors were buying US government bonds because they knew US interest rates were about to skyrocket.
Do I really need to explain why that’s weapons-grade stupid?

Spanish Inquisitor: Note that they mention how many have signed up, but not how many have active accounts. It’s the kind of place where you get permanently banned before your comment shows up for pointing out that the Constitution allows for freedom of religion (yeah, I tried posting there once).
