If you want someone who represents every stereotype of the ignorant, dumbass redneck, I give you Hank Williams Jr., who should be touring with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth while making idiotic statements like this:
Following the song “We Don’t Apologize For America” a chant of “USA, USA” broke out amongst the crowd. Williams smiled, telling the crowd that he was their mouth piece and adding:
“We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the US and we hate him!”
The cheers that followed were loud and enthusiastic.
Of course they were. He knows his target audience is every bit as dumb as he is and will loudly cheer any mindless nationalistic bullshit he shovels out.

Not very original nor creative. Pales in comparison to Mustaine and Nugent.

Totally boring. There were no conspiracy theories in there at all. I disapprove.

Hank Williams Jr. should of course be asked, but we know he won’t be, “Why are you lying?, Why are you such a liar?”

I went to see megadeth as a student in Leeds for the comedy value – his parting shot had bits of the crowd in hysterics – even some of the fans. ‘Hey kids, you drive home safely tonight so you can come and see Megadeth again!’
So patronising and anti everything a rocker is supposed to be, giving out safety advice! Anyway was worth it for the laughs, music not so much. Glad to see him and his mates are keeping the stupid up.

pacal@4:
It’s only a lie if you believe words should have meanings. Drunken idiots like Williams neither know nor care what it means to be a Muslim. They might as well call him a poopyhead for all the thought they put into it.

When I want to hear about how great and perfect America is, I can think of no one better to listen to than the man who wrote “If the South Woulda Won (We Woulda Had it Made)”

So when the Dixie Chicks criticize the president during a time of war, the “heartland” explodes in outrage.
When Dave Mustaine & Hank Williams Jr. do the same thing…
Remember kids, it’s only bad when the OTHER side does it!

OMG! Obama and the UN are going to make us all hunter / gatherers!
Unless, of course, the Lubbock County, Texas judge and sheriff department can stop the blue tanks from driving over the crops.

I started buying Dixie Chicks CDs when they were being banned on all the radio stations. I don’t really care for their music, but thought I’d show them some support.
Unfortunately, I like Hank Sr., A long time ago I bought a double CD of his but I haven’t bought anything else. I don’t want to give that drunken idiot son of his anything.

Hank III has some amazing stuff. He also has some absolutely insane stuff. Some of it overlaps.
Whatever it was that made Hank Hank skipped Junior and made it to III. Junior is just a soulless hack.

Jr has, in the great tradition of blowhard right wingers before him, both the belief in working hard/making it on your own/pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and that the fact that his daddy is famous has nothing to do with his success.

If Obama hates America as Hank wants us to believe, why has he even run for our presidency? Not to mention the fact that he hasn’t exactly been soft on our enemies with his refusal to close Guantanamo Bay and his secret kill lists.

To tear down America…from the inside!
“Not to mention the fact that he hasn’t exactly been soft on our enemies with his refusal to close Guantanamo Bay…”
Two words: Secret Island Lair.
“…and his secret kill lists.”
Yes. His secret kill list. Do you see? The Muslins are so violent, they even kill their own!

That’s just the public secret kill list. The secret secret kill list is just a large collection of US phone directories.

Ha, trick question!
Obama could nuke Mecca this afternoon and have all American Muslims placed in concentration camps this evening, and by tomorrow morning, people like Hank Jr. would be saying “look how far this Amerikkka hater is willing to go to hide his true religion from us God-fearing citizens!”

criticaldragon1177 asks [rhetorically]:
There’s a conservative viral email currently going around that shows a picture of Obama from the ’08 campaign carrying Fareed Zakaria’s The Post-American World (the email doesn’t date the photo).
The email mutates the title of the book for the email’s subject header as, POST AMERICA ? [sic, sic]. The email construes the book is a tutorial for bringing about the demise of the U.S. The original emailer apparently presumes, correctly given the response I’ve seen from those on the distribution list whom I know, that conservative readers of this email are too delusional, racist, and idiotic to notice the book in no way purports to do harm of the U.S. Instead it is a fine tutorial for future U.S. success given the rise of the global competition and more competent competition for capital investments in non-U.S. regions of the world which the U.S. must contend with than we did in the era subsequent to the end of WWII.

“We Don’t Apologize for America.”
What if the apology is merited…or is the USA the world’s first and only country never to have done anything “apology-worthy?”

@dan4 – Nope, not even if an apology is merited, as in the time the Navy shot down Iran Air Flight 655:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655
To be fair, we did pay the Iranians a whopping $213,000 per passenger and issued “notes of regret” to the families of the dead but the government has never admitted fault or apologized.
“I’ll never apologize for the United States of America. Ever. I don’t care what the facts are.” – George H. W. Bush.

OK, someone who is better-versed in Country music/ culture please tell me.
Hank Williams was something of a populist, and a New Dealer, as I remember. Not perfect, but then neither was Lyndon Johnson, who was in some respects a principled man — more than many might give him credit for.
Anyhow, Hank Williams. IIRC, there’s more than one song that was kind’a left-y he wrote. Not on the level of a Woody Guthrie, but… he wasn’t a raving right-wing ideologue.
So what the heck went on with his son?
Anyone?
