Dumbass Quote of the Day

Today’s dumbass quote of the day comes from world class dumbass Victoria Jackson:

Suddenly, the gym CNN is blasting a story of how a homosexual man is helping other homosexuals adopt children. He speaks about the personal, passionate sacrifice of his time for this cause as if he were Mother Theresa. I’m appalled. Homosexuals-adopting-children is child abuse. No, it’s pedophilia and sexual molestation. Teaching a young mind, a clean slate, an innocent soul that homosexuality is a natural, normal and moral lifestyle is evil. How is gay adoption different from the recently jailed Penn State Jerry Sandusky, child molester case?

Really? You don’t know the difference between those two things? Then you’re a fucking moron. Of course, we already knew that.

With all the TV shows, Modern Family, Glee, etc., and today’s Huff Po video of straight guys kissing at Chick Fil A “to make a statement,” I’m getting really tired of the topic. And then, my husband tells me an Army Brigadiere General brought her wife to her promotion ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery! What?! A wife can’t have a wife?! Who’s the insane person here? Is this a Twilight Zone episode?

The L.A. Times wrote, “Since the reversal last September, the relationship between the government and the armed forces has shifted to include more outreach to gay and lesbian service members. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta posted a YouTube video thanking gay service members and praising the ban’s repeal.

Thanking gay service members? That’s an outrage! You can’t support the troops if the troops are gay, even if they have risked their lives and served their country honorably. They’re gay! And gay people are evil! Or something.

You might as well have pasted her entire article in here. I can’t tell where one dumbass quote ends and another begins.

    ‘Army Brigadiere General’?
Is this some kind of particularly uncomfortable and unflattering female support garment provided by the US Army?

I always get a laugh out of gay bashers who cite the Jerry Sandusky case. The fact is that Sandusky was not gay, he was a pedophile who raped young boys because they were available. Had young girls been available, he would have raped them. Of course, this passes far over the heads of fucktards like Ms. Jackson.

It’s odd. When the internet became the web, people talked about the great leap of the “information superhighway”, but they never realized that on the internet, metaphorically, idiots drive too.

I sympathize. I get that very same feeling every election cycle, when the conservative Democrat is called a “liberal” and the batshit insane Republican is taken seriously as a candidate.

I believe that this belief that if you are gay you are a pedophile runs far deeper than just a few outliers like Ms. Jackson. I’m not sure if it is because the demonization of gays doesn’t work anymore so in desperation they are trying associate homosexuality and pedophilia or they are just ignorant.

Yeah! And mark my words: the next step will be teaching the kids that secular government is a good thing and that women and black people should have the same rights and opportunities as white men!

    “Suddenly, the gym CNN…”

Uh, wot? I’m guessing she means CNN that was on a screen at the gym. The way she says it makes it sound like there’s a dedicated CNN channel that covers gyms.

Either way, when you decide to get outraged and write an article over something you overheard at the gym, this is not a promising start.

She’s referring to Brigadier General Tammy Smith, who is in all ways more awesome than Ms Jackson ever dreamt of being. Brig Gen Smith is the first openly gay general in the US military and her wife pinned the star on her uniform which is the tradition for married generals. http://www.npr.org/2012/08/14/158778052/tammy-smith-first-openly-gay-u-s-general

First but not the last and bigots are just going to have to deal with it.

I don’t know whether this is true or not, but, even supposing it was the case that Sandusky actually preferred boys to girls, and was therefore ‘gay’, this is irrelevant. There are also instances involving sexual contact between guys and underage girls, as well as women and underage boys, plus I would be willing to lay out money there’s been such instances involving women and underage girls (though I don’t, personally, know of any). Thus, if we apply the same standards to all those situations, no-one at all should ever be allowed to adopt or have kids.

“…child abuse. No, it’s pedophilia and sexual molestation.”

*Facepalm.* Yes, Mrs. Jackson, because “child abuse” and “pedophilia and sexual molestation” are automatically mutually exclusive categories.

In fact, I’ll go one better and say that being a demented fuckwit goes deeper than just a few outliers.

She is only asked things to generate “controversy”, and the only reason it generates controversy is because there are enough people who agree with her to do so.

But, let’s be very clear on something here:

just because she isn’t a complete outlier has nothing to do with whether she isn’t part of the fuckwit brigade.

I hadn’t read about her in ages… she used to write a column in WND as I recall… lots of «I hate gays bla bla bla», or «Obama black = bad». Is she that batshit insane that not even WND will publish her ? That’s a whole new level of nuts…

“Homosexuals-adopting-children is child abuse. No, it’s pedophilia and sexual molestation.” – that’s her problem right there – equating homosexuality and pedophilia… when will they get get into their thick (very thick) skull that one is not the other ?

    drizzt

Addendum to my post : so according to her, no gays were in the military, or at least no gay that she knew about… and it should stay that way damn it! I served my time in the military, right when women were being integrated in it. I can’t count the times I heard hatred aimed at them. The same might be aimed at gays now… You always have to hate someone or else what use are the military for ?

Maybe Frist didn’t just look at Terry Schaivo’s motionless body on a farsee device and make his diagnosis that she was still “alive”. Maybe he had been in the same vicinity as Vicky J and determined that a person could be on a ventilator and have more brainwave activity than Jackson demonstrates.

    drizzt@19:

When I was in the USAF–the WAF who wouldn’t sleep with you? GAY, every single one of them. I heard it from all of the guys who they wouldn’t sleep with.

Fundies have a completely different definition of morality than sane people have. My short definition would be something like “morality is how we treat other people”.

For a fundie, morality is how completely you submit to an arbitrary list of required and forbidden behaviors. The list is given by God, because of course morality is what he says, duh. Whether people are consenting or not is irrelevant. Hence the mutual confusion. Fundies are baffled when we bring up the fact that adult gays in a consenting relationship are not being forced, so, we conclude, what’s the harm? We are astonished when they use pedophilia and gay sex interchangeably – for them, they are both forbidden sexual behaviors.

There are no victimless sins – they are behaviors which everybody exhibits, therefore we are all guilty. Just ask any evangelist preacher. Victims are irrelevant. Sure atheists may act mostly harmlessly, and even try to correct damage when they wrong somebody, but if they don’t have a monarch who gives them a list of commands(1), how can they be moral?

[shudder] I was raised Fundie, but still find this confused storm of concepts inexplicable and creepy.

    (1) Which just happen to identify their tribal affiliation.
