I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been analyzing a political controversy or thinking about a particular issue and thought, “Boy, I sure wish I knew what Charlie Daniels thought about this.” Thankfully, the Worldnutdaily provides me with such vital information.
“There’s a move afoot to change life in America into a totally European – I’ve heard that so much I’m getting sick of it: ‘European’ – socialist thing,” says country-music legend Charlie Daniels, “but it’s the dag-blamed truth [sic], and it don’t work, it never has worked, and if America goes that way, America will never be America again.”
Daniels told WND in an exclusive interview that he expects 2012, with the nation’s very identity on the line, will be “the biggest election we have ever had.”
“In my 75 years on Earth, it’s never been as clear-cut as it is now,” Daniels said. “We’re either going to go into socialism, where part of the people work and the rest of them don’t, and the ones that do will be taxed to death, or – I got the point where I don’t trust politicians anymore, but hopefully – the other side represents, ‘Let’s put America back to work; let’s re-instill the work ethic back in people.’”
Well dagblameit, who can argue with that kind of logic?
“I heard a while ago that more people file for disability than file to get a job. Where in the heck is that at?” Daniels asked. “Is that America? Is that what made America great?
Well if you heard that a while ago, it must be true, right? How, exactly, does one “file to get a job”? Clearly, what made America great was ignorant, washed-up, has-been celebrities spouting bullshit.

Did Mr Daniels appear as an extra (or should that be ‘ex-tree’) in Blazing Saddles?

where part of the people work and the rest of them don’t
Yeah, that’s what the housing crash gave us.

If you want more hilarity, he’s been writing one of the worst blogs in the world for 12 years now. It’s even worse than this interview. He calls it the soapbox, though I can’t imagine it as anything more than the disposable ones that individual bars come in.

Somewhat redundant to use the words pointless and worldnutdaily in the same post.
I guess we can add Daniels to the pile of useless, factless opinion spouters over there. Farah better stock extra depends so he doesn’t miss a valuable eruption.

Instead of telling them about the Boogie Man, Charlie Daniels frightens his grandkids with scary stories about a horrible land where people don’t have to avoid seeing the doctor because they’re worried that they can’t afford the bill.

I’d be more impressed with Daniels’ argument if I felt he had a clue about what socialism is.

I’m sure the “shut up and sing!” crowd, led by Laura Ingraham, will be right on this one, criticizing Daniels’ comments here (*rolls eyes*).

…and Mr. Daniels would appreciate it if the “Dag-nabbed kids would get their socialist asses off his gol-darned lawn!!”

I wonder what the age demographics of Worldnetdaily are. The thought came to mind of some of WND’s younger readers going “Who?” about Daniels, since his time in the spotlight ended 30 years ago. But thinking about it there may not be many readers of that crap who are young enough not to remember “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
Has Ricky Skaggs ever appeared on WND? He’s apparently another victim of the right wing brain eater.

@13 timgueguen
The Devil Went Down to Georgia was included in Guitar Hero III… in the form of a kickin’ metal cover. Younger people might recognize the name.
Seriously though, I wouldn’t expect anything less of Daniels. He expressed disapproval of the cover of his song done for that game, calling metal “Satan music…” ironic, considering the point of that song in the game was to finish it to defeat the devil and ascend to Rock Godhood.

Isn’t there a positive reference to pot In “Long-Haired Country Boy?”. Why does Charlie Daniels hate America?

WTF? When I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s the conservative adults around me were proud of our new interstate highway system, our military and local police. The CIA and FBI weren’t liberals yet, and they bragged about how well their kids did in public schools. They got warms and fuzzies taking their youngin’s to the public parks.
I guess Daniels was somewhere else, ranting about European socialism.
