FTB’s Chris Rodda, who has done more than anyone else to reveal the lies told at an astonishing rate by David Barton, is taking Barton’s co-host up on a challenge he issued on his website. Rick Green absurdly compares Barton’s critics to Adolf Hitler:
Question: What do elitist professors have in common with Adolf Hitler & Saul Alinsky?
Answer: They masterfully use the powerful art of innuendo to falsely defame those with which they disagree.
Definition of Innuendo: A derogatory hint or reference to a person or thing.
The internet is abuzz today with leftwing bloggers, elitist professors, and downright jealous peers licking their chops and rubbing their hands in excitement as they repeat the juicy quotes about David Barton books being full of “embarrassing factual errors, suspiciously selective quotes, and highly misleading claims.”
Yet not a single article can point to a single factual error, quote out of context, or misleading claim.
Talk about delusional. Those critics, including Chris, have pointed out innumerable errors and lies, not only in the latest book but pretty much every time Barton opens his mouth or puts pen to paper. Chris put out an entire book of them and is finishing up a new book just about his lies about Jefferson. And Green finishes his post by dropping a challenge:
If you can show me specifics that back up the image created by the critics innuendo, I’ll post it right here for the world to see.
Waiting, waiting.
Bueller, Bueller? Yes, Ben Stein’s character in that movie is EXACTLY what I picture with most of these critics!!!!
Chris has taken him up on that challenge, leaving a comment that, as of now, he has not allowed to go to the page. I frankly doubt he will. He’ll likely find some reason to dismiss it or pretend it doesn’t exist.

I was able to leave a post without being moderated. Maybe they have a way of recognizing names of people like Chris who know what they are talking about and thus the approval message comes up.

True to form, Rick Green comes out of the gate lying just like his boss. Elitist profs didn’t take Barton down here, but instead profs from conservative Christian colleges; along with some Cincinnati-area pastors infuriated with Barton’s lies regarding Jefferson’s culpability of slavery continuing beyond the founding. None of whom are by any measure elitist.

It’s a “harder” sound than “Democratic”; it dates back at least to Bob Dole’s reference in the 1976 VP debate against Walter Mondale to “the Democrat wars in the 20th century…” They know the name of the party, it’s just that it’s easy to make “Democrat” sound like something bad if you give it a little inflection.

This “challenge” seems about as valid & sincere as convicted felon Kent Hovind’s $250,000 “challenge” to scientists to prove the theory of evolution.
And I can pretty much guarantee this doofus hadn’t heard of Saul Alinsky before 2008, when the Commie/Socialist association w/ Obama became a trope of the GOP smear campaign (along w/ the terrorist connection w/ Weatherman Bill Ayres). Bonus points for the Godwin, too.

Why should we take anyone seriously who thinks Hitler and Alinsky had anything in common? I realize that at the extremes, right-wing dumb fucks and left-wing dumb fucks are hard to distinguish, but that is hardly the case here.

Here is a way to check. Listen to Democratic and Republican elected officials or operatives name the opposing party in public statements, or on the floor of the House or Senate. See how many times the Republicans refer to the “Democrat Party” or their “Democrat colleagues,” then see how many times the Democrats refer to “Rethuglicans.” Now compare your lists.

Exactly. There is no comparison between a few liberal bloggers or commenters calling Republican candidates Nazis and—to cite just one example from a target-rich environment—national-level Republican officials and congresscritters claiming that the President is consciously advancing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The “both sides do it” meme is used by some as a means to feel superior to almost everybody, by others to avoid accepting the reality that even though the current system is fubar, there are still some differences between the two parties,* and by yet others as a conscious strategy to conceal the fact that it’s brass knuckles vs. boxing gloves out there.
* even though it might simply be that one side will use lube

I think whenever I hear someone use “elitist” as a pejorative, I’ll refer to them as mediocratists.
The only elite class the conservative loons admire these days are competitive athletes – and not gifted or determined solitary athletes, like serious joggers, power lifter, martial artists, but only the professional competitive team sportsmen.
