Glenn Beck is planning another big rally called Restoring Love, to be held at Texas Stadium on July 28. And he plans to restore love with the help of a sizable group of hateful bigots and liars, including David Barton (who wouldn’t know the truth if if crawled up his pantleg, perched on his ass and yodeled the Ave Maria). And he’s hardly alone:
Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, who says that supporters of gay rights are “tools of satan.”
John Hagee, who thinks God sent Hitler to hunt down the Jews and sent Hurricane Katrina to stop a gay pride event from taking place.
Rick Scarborough, who says AIDS is God’s punishment on gay people.
Harry Jackson, who thinks a demon that he calls the Queen of Heaven rules over Washington D.C. and is making people support marriage equality.
Yeah, that’ll “restore love.”

what a perfect description of David Barton :) This seems to be a who’s who of malicious Christian men. Hmmm, will they invite Fred Phelps to complete the set?

Given their God’s history of smiting states that oppose gay rights, is he sure he wants to make such a tempting target?

Me thinks Glennie has love and hate confused, I think he is looking at the knuckles of the wrong hand.

So one of those loons thinks there’s a domme demon who’s made herself queen of Heaven? Suddenly Heaven sounds less boring. Hope she’s one of those good-looking seductress demons.

Hey, it’s an accurate name. Beck wants to “restore love” of moldy bigotry and rich white guys having all the power.

Hagee also hates Mormons and Catholics. What is he doing at a Glenn Beck event, since Beck is a Mormon?
Catholics call the Virgin Mary, the Queen of Heaven. I’ve never heard of this guy but it doesn’t sound like he likes Catholics either.

Just goes to show you just how warped their values are. They don’t know the difference between love and hate. Next up: Freedom is slavery, followed by ignorance is strength.

I wonder if Mr. Bek will be inviting (posthumously) that boarding school full of multiply handicapped children that he is alleged to have raped and murdered during the early 90′s*?
* It is also rumored that John Hagee, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and other meatpillars of the KKKristian KKKommunity were involved. Hey, I’m JUST ASKING QUESTIONS, here!

It turns out that Harry Jackson is, in fact, an anti-Catholic bigot and his demon, Queen of Heaven, is the Catholic version of Jesus’s mom and god’s girlfriend (and hey, why don’t those two get married anyway? It’s been 2,000 years!!!)
They’ve been reading Orwell’s 1984 again.
“Restoring Love” = getting a bunch of haters and bigots together.

I have a hard time crediting a product name like “Restore Love” with the ability to reach the right wing. They probably just hear “Glen Beck”. (Of course, what they actually hear when they hear “Glen Beck” is up for speculation.)

I also heard him say on his show last week (I listen for a couple minutes at a time for the comedy effect) that Candy Crowley is going to be speaking there too. I can’t find anything online about it of course, but if she is, doesn’t that take all her journalistic credibility away?

It is not the stars of bigotry that irks…it is the fleecable sheeples that flock to a shearing.
They hear jeebus mentioned they go completely brain dead and drool pompousness.
How can so many folks hear hate and think love…they are fucking cretins to a visitor.

The demonology of “Queen of Heaven” is a long-standing trope of a large but somewhat obscure faction of dominionists called the New Apostolic Reformation (also heavily involved with anti-gay and witch-hunting crusades in Africa, and hard-core Catholic-haters: some of them claim their prayers were responsible for the death of “Mother Teresa”).
The best coverage of this metacult comes from talk2action.org, which everyone interested in hyperchristian hijinks should visit regularly.

Wait now – David Barton is in a band called ‘Hateful Liars’?
Will they be covering Cher’s hit ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves’?
Inquiring minds need to know!

Because he hates gays and liberals more.
This is hardly a new trend, evangelicals and conservative Catholics have been more than willing to ignore their doctrinal differences in the name of winning the culture war for about 20-30 years now.
Don’t worry, though. Once all the gays are in camps, the knives will come out as they battle for the title of “One true faith”.

A small correction for you, Ed. Even the Mercury One site got this wrong in a couple of places.
The rally won’t be at Texas Stadium, they’re a couple of years late for that venue as it was imploded on Arpil 11, 2010. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv2Y8SGp9aM
Jerry’s new house is called “Cowboys Stadium”, although he probably would have preferred “Jerry’s House”.

A few predicted conservative responses if a LIBERAL was hosting a conference with the same name: “How hippy-dippy, touchy-feely, New-Agey can you get?” “Not all love should be ‘restored,’ you libtards (hello, NAMBLA, the North American Man Boy LOVE Asssociation)!”
Also, it’s amusing to note that the specific conservative hosting this event is Glenn Beck, the man who said that “empathy” is what led to the Nazi death camps, and, in general, can lead to “very bad places” (yes, I know that “love” and “empathy” are not literally synonymous with each other; however, they certainly aren’t far enough in meaning and connotation to find it reasonable to dance the Godwin shuffle with one and celebrate the other to such an extent to hold an entire friggin’ conference to “restore” it).
