Jamie Kilstein at the Reason Rally

At the CFI Leadership Conference, Jamie Kilstein did the whole routine that he did at the Reason Rally and it was as brilliant the second time as it was the first time. Someone told me they were standing backstage next to Richard Dawkins and he was just dumbfounded by the whole thing, that he had no idea what was funny about this. I think it’s hysterical, especially this line: “If you are over 60 years old in the Senate, you should not be allowed to vote on the environment. You don’t get to vote to destroy the planet and then die before the place burns to the ground. That just makes you a really slow suicide bomber.”

    A gloriously epic rant. =D

And it rubs in how much it sucked to miss the reason rally… =(

All the comic value of a Dennis Miller rant, executed half as well.

I’ll cleanse my pallet with Nate Phelps’ speech.

While the necessary kernel of truth needed for humor to resonate is present, I find it disconcerting that humans are so incapable of considering the ramifications of policy beyond their own [falsely perceived] short-term interests. Even when their positions risks, and in the case of AGW, guarantees to threaten the well-being of not only others – but their progeny as well. We can be an incredibly petty infantile population, none more so than the so-called silent generation Mr. Kilstein refers to here.
