Radio Host Wants to Pistol Whip Nuns

The cesspool that is right wing talk radio continues to get worse and more toxic. Wingnut radio host Jan Mickelson noted that a group of nuns were going to Washington, DC to protest against the Ryan budget and he asked a sitting congressman whether he could arrange to have them pistol whipped.

A conservative radio host says that the Catholic nuns who have embarked on a nine-state bus tour to protest the injustice of Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) proposed budget deserve to be beaten with a handgun because they “threw the first punch.”

“There’s a bus full of nuns headed towards Washington to lobby against the Ryan plan,” radio host Jan Mickelson told Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) last week. “Do you guys, do you have any power to pull the nuns on the bus over and pistol whip them?”

“They say he is evil, they say he is fake Catholic,” he added. “They’re the ones that threw the first punch.”

Yeah, they criticized a Republican congressman. So therefore it’s okay to commit violence against them.

I assume that pistol whipping nuns is not considered making war on religion if you are doing it because they support social justice?

  2. dingojack says

I hope ‘pistol-whipping nuns’ is not a euphemism is the same vein as ‘boxing the jesuit’, there’s enough of that on right-wing radio talkback as it is.

I often wonder if there’s a limit to how crazy a wingnut can talk before people walk away from him. I honestly don’t think there’s a bottom any more. One of these days, the ASPCA is going to piss one of these nuts off and he’ll call for skeet shooting using live puppies, and his supporters will just shrug it off.

    Ed:

For the love of all that is holy, just and whitely delightsome, PLEASE refrain from using inflammatory lablels such as, “Wingnut radio host” when referring to a lying, misogynistic, fuckbag piece of shit like Jan Mickelson. What did that lying, misogynistic, fuckbag piece of shit Jan Mickelson ever do to you?

  5. says

Oh, come on, Ed! You know damn well that the Catholic Church is built on two pillars: being against gays and being against ladyparts.
So-called “social justice” is some hippie shit that those pot smoking nuns just made up while they were “helping” the poor. And how is the Church going to get more political power with idiotic stunts like helping the poor? When did Jesus ever do that? Never! The Gospels are riddled with him slapping the sin out of whores and pushing over tax collectors (giving the taxes back to the Job Creators)!

I’ve noticed that whenever one of these RW cretins advocates the use of violence against someone whose political views they oppose, they always try and push the actual deed off onto somebody else. They’re ever so brave in the concept but absolute chickenshits when it’s time for the execution.

Were they laughing when they said this? Because if they were, then it’s funny. Right?

Hmm… kind of like Rush Limbaugh’s reaction to Sandra Fluke, and these crazies say there isn’t a war on women?

I just wonder: if they would never say the word ‘vagina’ to their wives, what word would they use?

reverendrodney – probably the same one they use when talking about her to ‘the boys’ at work, in a bar or whereever.

Jan Mikelson has a long history of crazy, especially when it comes to the subject of gays. He nearly lost it over the Iowa Supreme Court striking down Iowa’s DOMA.

His whole argument against marriage equality is based on his religious beliefs. Now, here he is advocating violence against women who have choosen to dedicate their lives to his personal lord and savior. A lord and savior who, the story goes, shunned violence in favor of love and forgiveness.

Yet, I imagine nothing was said when he showed up for Church on Sunday morning.

At which point Rep. Tom Latham recoiled, took a moment to recover his thoughts and said that it was a disgusting thing to suggest, and that Mickelson should be deeply ashamed of himself. Latham then took it upon himself to apologise to the listeners for the horrible thing just said on their radios, before the radio station cut to commercials and replaced the newly fired Mickleson with highlights of another show.

Right? That is what happened isn’t it?

As long as they were atheist/liberal/Marxist/Kenyan puppies, I’m sure the listeners would enthusiastically join in.

    A hooded nun?

So long’s it’s only mungrels and purebreds of certain shades of darkishness.

But remember, there is no problem with the American right wing and political rhetoric that advocates violence. There never was, and there still isn’t. Anyone who suggests otherwise has just put themselves in our sights.

    Not necessarily.

Because people will laugh at unfunny “jokes” on occassion.

(But then y’know that already right?)

They did commit the crime of being wimmin so that makes it biblically correct to beat them for disobeying.

El Salvador, 1980. Maura Clarke, Jean Donovan, Ita Ford, Dorothy Kazel. This thug would have felt right at home in one of the US-trained death squads there – unless he’s just all talk, of course.

Is the right to beat people with guns protected under the 2nd CommandmentAmendment?

Guns don’t pistol whip nuns, people pistol whip nuns.

I’m sure the people who claimed Democrats were guilty of “hate speech” for pointing out that Ann Romney has never held a paid job will be suitably outraged.

What’s next: calling for Obama’s wife and daughters to be publicly pack-raped so he’ll know how the average American taxpayer feels?

That people will laugh at unfunny “jokes” on occassion.
