Here’s a video put out by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation that includes video clips from many Christian groups talking about how great it is that they can create “government-paid missionaries for Christ” in the U.S. military. Some of it is quite disturbing and shows the importance of what MRFF does.

If I were an American I would be trying to ensure that my elected representatives saw this video, and asking them all sorts of questions about whether it is constitutional for taxpayers money to be so spent. And demanding answers.

It’s interested that they all knew they were on camera and were proud to say what they were saying.

I often wonder if our military (and elected officials) have:
1. Even read the constitution they are sworn to protect.
B. Have read it, but are incapable of understanding it.
III. Think it doesn’t apply to them, but applies to “them other guys” that they disagree with.

I wonder how our freedumb-lovin’ conservatives in Congress would react to a similar video with one small difference — replacing the word “god” with “allah?”

Let’s not forget the Air Force “instructor” who last summer was reported by some of his men who actually have working grey matter when he attempted to justify nuclear attacks based on “da bible”?
It’s also profoundly problematic because the bible – unless its used purely as a proof text by conscienceless fundamentalists – can’t be used to support wars of empire.
Even the thoughtful Christian traditions – Catholic, Orthodox, mainline Protestant – know that the Bible in itself can’t be used to justify war. The entire Just War tradition draws it’s inspiration from scripture, but not it’s criteria. And even the Just War theory is being called into question when all sides in conflicts have access to Weapons of Mass Destructtion.

“Christian infiltration?” Silly me, I didn’t know there was a ban on Christians in the US military. Here I thought the protection of religious liberty — even if you disagree with the religious beliefs — was a veritable American institution.
Seems Weinstein and his MRFF disagree, given that much of the video shows nothing more than members of the US military engaged in religious worship. Can’t have our Soldiers hearing sermons now, can we?

No, we can’t, when they are coerced into doing so during a part of their training when they have few options, are exhausted and feel like they are required to be there. Plus, it is NOT our soldier’s jobs to be ‘missionaries’- they are government agents sworn to uphold the Constitution. that means the military, as a body, CANNOT promote one religion over others, or religion over secularism. Try again troll.

Of course there isn’t any such ban and you, JD, know perfectly well that there is not. You also know that the only ban relating to religion in the entire United States is that the government thereof is not, repeat not (are you listening, sweetheart?), in the pulpit
The government of this country does not, by design and intent informed by long experience and observation, have anything to do with personal stuperstitions. Those are left up to individuals, for whatever good or evil comes form such self indulgence.
Apparently that is part of what makes this nation the bastion of freedom that it claims to be. Apparently that also is part of what makes it perfectly acceptable to be a dumb shit and simultaneously claim to be a true American.
Find another dodge. Your present one is getting pretty threadbare, not to mention tiresome.
