Michigan Republicans Ignore Women

Bonnie Bucqueroux is one of the coolest people in Michigan journalism. At Lansing Online News, she posted a video of the hearings last week on the new package of anti-abortion bills that is being called the most draconian in the nation. Notice how they allowed the anti-choice side to testify but then abruptly ended the meeting rather than listening to women who wanted to testify against the bill.

The full Michigan House easily passed the package of bills, as expected.

The abortion topic regularly avoids regular order. The republicans really don’t like to hear from the public on the issue. During my time in the MN house, the (R) used to have abortion bills skip committee entirely by taking another bill, hearing that then doing a ‘delete all’ amendment followed by a deemed fully engrossed amendment with the abortion language.

I got a lot of flack (actual threats!) for calling that trick fundamentally corrupt in law school.

It’s a repeat of Darrell “Car Thief” Issa’s sausage fest hearing on contraceptives. Can’t wait to hear which yahoo the GOP sends out to justify excluding women.

“We didn’t need to hear from the gals. I mean, you don’t get testimony from dogs when debating a new leash law, amirite?” State Representative Jim Bob Crocket (R-East Dogshit, MN).

What if hose democrats did the same thing. There would be an outcry from conservatives AND liberals alike (for different reasons). Again, it shows that all AMericans hold Demeocrats to a higher standard, and the Republicans abuse that to no end. Fuck the MSM. Its really all their fault. Fuck.Them.

And today two women legislators were told they would not be recognized in any further debate on this issue due to their behavior and language in the above discussion. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120614/POLITICS02/206140467/Lawmaker-barred-from-speaking-over-vagina-comment?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

Re the Detroit News article linked to by connie joozinga; the following was the top comment by a Dan MacDonald:

So in a house of law run by supposedly educated people we should refer to reproductive organs as “pee pee’s and who ha’s”.

    Republicans ignoring women?

Well, that’d almost be a step up from attacking them on a daily basis wouldn’t it?

The Republican Tea Party always ignores the victims unless by victim you mean rich, white males.
