For the looney right, it seems, we are forever just on the verge of having martial law declared. This was standard John Birch Society rhetoric for decades and now wingnut preacher and “prophet” Rick Joyner says the Lord has revealed to him that the entire world economy is going to collapse and martial law will be imposed:
Factors will converge that cause a lightning fast collapse of the U.S. dollar, and the world economy will be shaken to its foundations. If you do not change your direction, you will end up where you are headed. We are headed for an economic collapse, followed by the worst civil unrest America and much of the world has ever experienced, followed by martial law…
Trauma, and especially economic trauma, has been the biggest open door for tyranny throughout history, and if we have not turned to the Lord in a way that compels Him to heal our land, we will face the worst form of tyranny. This is a very real threat for as long as we remain in this vulnerable condition.
And the solution, as always, is to “turn back to God.” Which really just means we should let theocratic lunatics like him run the country. No thanks.

So in other words, to avoid a possible tyranny of unspecified nature, we need to impose a theocratic tyranny.

The only thing collapsing is the “good ole days” fantasy these looney tune teabaggers keep touting, along with the rest of their delusions. They and their fantasies are on the way out….deep down inside they probably know it, and are projecting their self-collapse onto the world at large.

Well currently, it looks more likely the value of the U.S. dollar will continue to rise, as the Eurozone gurgles down the austerity plughole.

For those of you reluctant to read the linked article I will reveal the factors that will lead to the “the worst civil unrest America… has ever experienced,” including, presumably the period from 1861 to 1865: they are gutless politicians, the Federal Reserve, over-regulation, and the number one biggest factor in this total collapse is … public service unions.

I don’t see why martial law even matters.
According to Ronald Weinland, the world ended yesterday with the Apocalypse and we are all dead.
“Weinland has changed the prophesied date for the return of Christ to Pentecost of 2012 (May 27)[12]
These self proclaimed prophets aren’t very convincing, reliable, or accurate.

Ironic — the people who are working 25/7 to bring about economic collapse are worried about what could happen if the economy collapses.

These self proclaimed prophets aren’t very impressive.
I have as much Superpower and Spiritual Authority as anyone in the world. This includes the Pope, the Mormon Pope, the Dalai Lama, and all the fundie toadlike leaders put together.
So does my cat.
It’s actually zero but that is exactly the same as theirs.
I suppose the main difference is that while the cats and I are world class spiritual superheroes, we aren’t always asking for people to send us money. But whatever, you can send us some if you want to.

I for one thoroughly approve of Martian Law. I think Martians would do a great job of running things.

Obviously. It’s right there in Paul’s Epistles. Written by [Ron] Paul of Tarsis.

fifthdentist, now you’re just being ridiculous. “Tardis”? Ron Paul is not Doctor Who.

Under the “Solution” subheading in the link: “Good is what God defines as good, and evil is what He defines as evil.” Sounds like the biblical equivalent of “moral relativism.” Amusingly, the right-wing Joyner also echoes an infamous comment by liberal Rahm Emanuel when the former writes that all of the crisis we are facing “could begin the process of turning every crisis into an opportunity.”

I love how these peanuts are always going on about economic collapse, and yet I don’t recall the bible containing any particularly relevant economic theory that would save us from the said collapse. All the bible has to say about economics is some rules about selling slaves.

I’ll have to let my wife know about that, as she’s a rep for her union. Since she’s also Jewish, she’s a double threat.
