If wingnuts had any ability to recognize their own contradictions, this article would cause some serious cognitive dissonance. A group of Muslim imams from Kenya are upset with President Obama for speaking out in favor of marriage equality, saying that he’s putting himself in place of God.
Speaking to the Nation in Mombasa, Council of Imams and Preachers Organising Secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa accused President Obama of playing god by legalizing what “God Himself objects”.
“Simply because he has risen to be the President of a super power does not mean he can now start acting as God. He is nothing in the eyes of God and his plans will not succeed just like those who preceded him in such plans,” said Sheikh Khalifa.
He further accused the Kenya Human Rights Commission of propagating western values at the expense of religion by propagating for same sex marriages and abortion.
“God created man and woman so that we can procreate. How come we now want to behave worse than dogs who do not go for their own gender but know the difference between the two?” asked Sheikh Khalifa.
Wait, Kenyan Muslims don’t like same-sex marriage? But Obama IS a Kenyan Muslim. Does not compute, does not compute…

Where’s the dissonance? This is merely another example of Barack Obama throwing friends and supporters under the bus in order to get elected.
That, or they are acting under the express orders of Barack Obama to pretend to be outraged at something he said, knowing that he really doesn’t mean it in his heart. They are all merely biding their time until Obama becomes the Supreme Dictator of the World, after the next election.

Any attempt to legalize gay marriage is doomed to fail! Well, except for all those states and countries that did it and have faced no negative consequences of any kind.

So my 70+ year-old Dad, the war vet, should never have married his girlfriend, because they would never have any kids.
Also, the sheikh obviously never had a dog. As I recall, mine wasn’t too particular about species, let alone gender.
Of course once the Fundies accept that, they’ll ask why we want to behave like animals!

I was about to say just that. The dogs I’ve seen can barely tell the difference between an opposite gender dog and the nearest human leg. If one wishes to prove that god installed us with a magical “only fuck the other gender” module, then one would be wise not to choose as one’s example an animal that immediately begins humping anything in its path the moment it feels even slightly randy.

Of course he hasn’t owned a dog. Most Muslims consider them unclean, and animals that are best avoided (though they’re sometimes permissible as work animals).
I’ve noticed Islamic “scholars” (even lots of Muslims in general) often making very strange statements about animals they consider unclean. Perhaps it’s just much easier to swallow misconceptions about things you’ve carefully avoided contact with all your life (you know, like those icky gay people).
It’s OT, but some statements I’ve seen about such animals are just too weird to be believed.
