Furthermore, if society isn’t allowed to define marriage, then marriage means anything you want, and therefore it doesn’t mean anything at all. If one rule is oppressive, then all rules are oppressive.
And let’s see how what you think about the whole thing when they start forcing the churches to perform gay weddings and adoption agencies to cater to gay couples.

It amuses me when people try to pull out the “same sex couples cannot procreate, therefore they should not be allowed to get married.” I wonder if these ignoramouses would support something like Washington’s Initiative 957, filed in 2007 and written to make procreation a requirement for marriage in that state?

Presently at Fox News.com there is a poll asking “Will President Obama’s support of same sex marriage help or hurt him in November?”. The possible responses are “Yes”, “No”, and “I don’t know”. I guess “I don’t know” is the appropriate answer.

Well the wedding wasn’t in the White House, but Obama did send a letter of congratulations to my friends Brad and Diego when they got married last month in DC. (Brad has played Santa at the WH Christmas party the last few years, hence the letter.)
And OBTW, that part about how fabulous gay weddings are? Yeah. You got that right. Best not-mine wedding I’ve been to. Won’t someone think of the weddings!

Actually, I think the timing of this announcement of Obama’s is brilliant! The “state’s issue” thing is, I think, specifically planned to give the Rethuglicans in each state time to spout nonsense publicly as well as try to rush through bigoted legislation in each state (which will be thrown out by the courts later, of course). This way, between now and November, they’ll have time to shoot themselves in the foot where the public will see and instead vote Democrat after seeing the overt bigotry.
