Saleem: Obama Importing Muslims to Overthrow America!
Kalam Saleem is one of a whole bunch of phony “ex-terrorists” making a lot of money on the wingnut rubber chicken circuit and by giving seminars to local police departments, drawing on their alleged experience with terrorists. At a conference put on by Frank Gaffney last week he offered this bizarre conspiracy theory:
The immigration bill is not against the Hispanic, per se, many people think it’s against the Hispanic, no, it’s not, on the contrary, our President is sending millions to Hamas to import Muslim people to United States of America. If that law passed—yes mam, check your media, Google that, he just sent $23 million dollars to Hamas recently to Hamas, just this year, we’re about to bankrupt and he sent the money to Muslims—so what happened is he’s trying to import them to United States of America to throw the power of conservatism and the Church out, you know God’s people, so what happens is they will become the upper hand or the equal hand. Because if you read the Muslim Brotherhood theology and their memorandum that they came to destroy United States of America with, is to populate United States of America with a multitude of millions of Muslims. So what happened is, when they are here, the Sharia law will, what happened when he allowed in the name of the Hispanic people, Mexican people, ‘let’s make them American,’ now all the illegal Muslims will be legalized here and terrorism will be legal in United States of America…
It’s time to make our voices known and time to stand up straight and fight for it because ultimately, the whole word just like my brother Frank [Gaffney] said, this world will become past tense and one day we’ll be wearing ragheads and walking on the street and everybody will say, ‘that used to be a Christian country where Islam conquered.’
And no one apparently stood up and disputed him. Because there is no claim so crazy and paranoid that it won’t get accepted and applauded at wingnut events.
And the crazy just kept on coming. When an audience member asked whether Obama is a Muslim, the rest of the audience applauded and Saleem went on a bizarre rant about how Obama, when he says the pledge of allegiance, is really pledging allegiance to Islam.

Now, I’m not saying that Kalam Hussein Saleem is a terrorist. All I’m saying is that he’s got “Ala”, the Muslin god, right there in his name! And he has already infiltrated meetings like this, with True Patriotic Freedom Liberty Americans®! How long until he explodes himself, hmmm? How many more spies will we let them send over here before we send them back a can of red, white and blue whoop ass?

Loonies never tried to sound sane. It’s just that conservatives used to keep them locked into the attic and out of the way. Every once and a while, when they thought no one was looking, they’d let them come out and play. They’d give the loonies a little lip service and a few dog whistles in order to secure their votes, then tuck them away again until the next election.
The problem, over the past 20-30 years, the loonies have grown tired of only occassional play dates. They’ve slipped down the trellis and are now running amok. Like Gremlins who have been fed after midnight, they’re now running completely wild without any restraint.

With only a couple of word changes, this is right out of the Malleus Maleficarum, where it’s pointed out that if a defendant in a witch trial swears to faith and loyalty to Jesus, then the court should realize that it’s all a sham, and they are really swearing their faith and loyalty to Satan.
Theirs is a world where all evidence will, by definition, support their preconceptions. It’s amazing to watch. And a very uneasy thing to live in the middle of…
