The Thomas More Law Center, a Christian legal advocacy group, has been awarded more than $100,000 in legal fees after winning a lawsuit against the city of Dearborn over unconstitutional rules that banned handing out leaflets at an annual Arab festival. So we’ll be hearing any minute now from the anti-ACLU crowd about how this legal group intimidated and terrorized a city with a lawsuit to get money from them, right? Right? Of course not. That’s only true when the ACLU does it. #obviously

I hope they use that money to reimburse the ACLU and Dover for their attorneys fees incurred back in 2004-05 in the Kitzmiller case, if they haven’t been paid off yet.

One has to wonder how devoted to religious liberty the Thomas More Law Center is, given that their namesake burned people alive as punishment for their religious dissent.

So the Thomas More Law Center went to court to protect the religious freedoms of its clients. Who happen to be Christian.

Well, chalk up one win for the TMLC. Although the ACLU would have taken the same position with better lawyers.
Are there any stats available as to the win/loss record of the TMLC? My Google-fu fails me in this instance.

OT, but just had an ad in the upper right of a bunch of guys in German WW II uniforms.
I had to read at the bottom it was a “Band of Brothers” reenactment tour spot and not a promo for the Republican National Convention.

I’ve heard that their next case involves a city that allowed Muslims to hand out leaflets at the city’s annual Christmas parade. The Thomas More Law Center is suing the city, saying they had no right to infringe on the Christian right to be isolated from different views and beliefs.

You must remember the play, or more acurately collection of lies about Thomas More, A Man for all Seasons, (Made into a turgid and boring eternity of a movie.), has presented a suitibly distorted and lying but confortable view of Thomas More. A read of one of Thomas More’s diatribes / rants against heresy in which he has repeated literary orgasms thinking about the suffering of Heretics and where he relishes and throughly enjoys their tortures and deaths should disabuse anyone of the idea of Thomas more has a tolerant man.

The republican national convention will resemble a Munich beerhall ca. 1925. The suit color will be mostly black in honor of the last century of fascism.

Since it was federal court, I doubt the losing side didn’t pay promptly. The feds get a teensy bit perturbed when their instructions about court costs are ignored.
