Now that he’s losing advertisers left and right, Rush Limbaugh seems to have been cowed into doing something I’ve never heard of him doing before, pretend to apologize. It’s a classic notpology — “I was right on the issues but I worded it badly.”
For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
Oh, that’s just dripping with sincerity, don’t you think? You can just feel the genuine empathy. And he’s still lying about it, pretending that it has something to do with taxpayer funding, which it doesn’t. Lying, misogynist asshole. Anyone who believes this needs shock therapy.

It was only humorous to other men who hate women for whatever reason: they have mother issues, they can’t get laid, they have really small penises, whatever. Oh, and those self-loathing women who figure if they laugh at muck like this, the big boys will let them play along.

Really, how can he apologize? It would have to be something like this: `I lied about Ms Fluke because I am a douchebag who has managed to bully conservatives into believing I have some insight as to how we ought to run our country. Nearly everything I said[*] about her was a lie, made for the sole purpose of increasing my ratings, without any regard for how my actions made her feel, or affected her reputation. My actions in this regard have been so disgraceful that I have no alternative but to discontinue my radio show and other activities, and find some way of contributing to society to make up for the damage I have done.’ He’s going to say that, right?
By the way, George Takei has the most delightful pronunciation of `douchebag’ I have ever heard.

Aquaria,
Ironically enough I think the fantastic Ms. Fluke may be at an advantage over Michael J. Fox. Someone like Limbaugh and by extension his audience) would perceive him as a celebrity and so “fair game” to be mocked. She on the other hand is a citizen not a celebrity, and so the audience isn’t quite as comfortable with this.
It raises the uncomfortable thought in some of them that they might one day be at risk of Rush turning his drug fuelled rants on them, or someone they hold dear.

The closest contender to Newt G. for “Worst Human Being Ever!” Rush is sort of the Jimmy Foxx of human shittiness, a towering and awe-insiring mound of stinking excrement who nevertheless clearly is not as empty and worthless as Gingrich. Alas, I can’t say the alphabetical list at #10 is mine, but copied from a fanfic called Pantheocide that was first posted over on stardestroyer.net by Stuart Slade. Unfortunately, he got really pissed when someone in Ukraine put the first part, Armageddon??? on a torrent and dashed his hopes of publishing the story. Pantheocide was the second part of a possible trilogy, but because of the torrent incident, he will never write the third part, now. There’s a fairly reasonable description of it over on tvtropes.com under The Salvation War and you can find the raw version over here. If you want to read it there, be warned–each part is about 1/4 million words.

The fact is that celebrities like Limbaugh have much to lose in a libel suit as their private lives include a lot more embarrassing material then someone like Ms. Flake. Documentation please. Googling “Ann Coulter same sex marriage no big deal” does not do it for me.
She was at GOProud when she was unequivocally against it in 2010.
I did see that she has recently said that she was glad for same sex marriage in NY because “now maybe they’ll shut up about it”. Is that what you were referring to?
Also –
1) Factually incorrect, we are not at war with Iran.
2) Falsely implies that we disagree about the quality of the government of Iran, which is basically false and a squirming attempt at evasion – what we disagree about is whether there should be a first strike nuclear holocaust against Iranian civilians by the United States.
3) Does not answer any of my questions. I will repeat them.
“I’m confused by your remark. How is a first strike nuclear bombing of a country that is not at war with the US comparable to making an omelet? How are human lives equivalent to unfertilized chicken eggs? Can you elaborate?
I do appreciate what I take as a straight answer to my first question – yes, you approve of some holocausts. Actually, this causes me to wonder – do you disapprove of the Nazi holocaust? I just realized that, although I had assumed, perhaps carelessly, that you oppose Nazis, I have no strong evidence of that.”

The question that Mr. Harold poses is OT on this thread and so will be ignored.
The possibility that Coulter and Beck are now taking the position that same sex marriage is no big deal (I recall that Beck said that on O’Reilly’s program), should not be construed that they are in favor of it, only that they no longer consider it to be an issue of major importance.
Coulter is notorious for socializing with a number of members of the gay and lesbian community, including closeted gay Matt Drudge. Given the claims of a former gentleman friend of hers that she doesn’t believe 90% of the crap that comes out of her mouth or word processor, I wouldn’t take anything she says on any subject seriously.

I’m sure you are correct of there being antipathy between dan4 and Aquaria. Having said that, his attack on her for expressing a “wish” that was in no wise more egregious than the previous one was a tip about that antipathy.

It should be noted that Rush Limbaugh’s apology seems predominately motivated by his advertisers demanding he provide the public with an apology in order that they can justify their continuing to advertise on his show. Mr. Limbaugh and his broadcaster’s future revenue stream is threatened. The apology doesn’t need to be authentic since they merely need a point of reference to provide them with an argument.
Mr. Limbaugh’s defamation of Ms. Fluke does not break new ground in our better understanding him where this incident is merely illustrative of his past behavior. His lack of character and bigotry was revealed decades ago. [I first became a fan of Al Franken's reading his book about Limbaugh.] Therefore no authentic apology is warranted by Mr. Limbaugh’s advertisers. If they were truly acting from a moral high ground they would have never advertised on his show.
I am grateful some of his advertisers won’t be coming back in spite of his apology, but that seems small potatoes relevant to the morally objective thing to do, which is for his broadcaster to shut his show down or every single advertiser quit using his show.

Rush Limbaugh has been calling women whores and prostitutes for years now and it is only when he learned he cannot do it directly and directed at a specific individual and it threatens his bottom line that he makes a feeble attempt at an apology.
What happens to Rush Limbaugh now should be the very same thing that happened to Imus.

I’ve said the same thing about Limbaugh for years, but it bears repeating: If I wanted the opinions of a bloated junkie, I’d move back to the Tenderloin.

He has been call feminist “Feminazis” for decades. It was not funny the first time he said it and remains just as unfunny at the ten thousandth time. Hateful little fuzzball.

Continuous hammering on Facebook and elsewhere caused Pro Flowers to cave today. They announced this afternoon that they are suspending advertising with Limbaugh.
Who else needs to be hammered?

Dan4, Aquaria – perhaps the latter could help Rush hang himself, at least he’d get an erection.

I like Rush, I think we should get him more advertisers and a wider audience.
He’s really, really good at saying what the GOP is actually thinking. Since he doesn’t filter it, outrage and backlash ensues. It’s a good deal for everyone. By being stupid, loud and angry, he may help to bring about things which are opposite to what he actually wants.

What Rushit actually “wants” is to make $M’s, fuck young people in foreign countries and feel like a big deal. If his employer’s revenues drop enough because of his idiocy, maybe they’ll shitcan him. Losing his show might be a blow from Limpbag’s ego might never recover, leading him into a spiral of angst fuelled and drug aggravated depression. He might live in the twilight of failure and low self-esteem for years and, ultimately, take his own life. Win-win.
