It’s really quite amusing to watch rival candidates try to come up with new ways to attack one another, especially when the race is close and people are getting desperate. Here’s a video clip from the last debate when Romney attacked Santorum for endorsing Arlen Specter:
Alec MacGillis states the obvious:
But step back even further and consider just how absurd this attack is. Santorum is being pilloried for having endorsed against a primary challenge a sitting senator from his own party and his own state who was also endorsed by the Republican president at the time. The senator he endorsed was pro-choice and went on to vote for universal health care legislation. Santorum is being attacked for this endorsement by a man who himself was pro-choice and signed into law universal health care legislation. So Santorum’s crime, in Romney’s eyes, is to have endorsed someone whose moderation resembled that of … Mitt Romney.
Even funnier, at the same time he was attacking Santorum for endorsing Specter, Romney also pointed out that Santorum endorsed him. Bryan Fischer would be proud.

Hmm…I believe this is the first time Specter-al evidence has been used since the Salem witch trials in 1692.

This is further proof that Romney’s biggest primary opponent isn’t Santorum or Gingrich, is the Romney of ten years ago.

Reading the headline, I was thinking that the collaboration between Willard M. Romney and Ernst Blofeld was going to be exposed at last…

I saw a variant of this pop up on Facebook ads a couple days before the Iowa Caucuses. I assumed it was Perry or something. Romney is just too funny.

Behold Romney! Witness the terrifying sight of a man locked in mortal struggle with his arch-nemesis: Himself.
The only thing sadder than that is that 10 years from now he’ll be fighting desperately against his current self. Every day Romney-That-Is lives gives more power to the Romney-That-Was, and even the slightest victory of the Romney-That-Is saps the power of the Romney-That-Has-Not-Yet-Come-To-Pass.

Oh, this is about Arlen Specter.
For a moment I’d thought Romney had decided to add necromancy to his bag of tricks.
