Is Obama Lenin or Stalin?

Jeffrey Kuhner, who is employed by the Rev. Moon to dish out ridiculous propaganda for the Washington Times, joined wingnut radio host Janet Mefferd on her show for a serious discussion of whether President Obama was more like Lenin or more like Stalin. Right Wing Watch has the transcript:

Kuhner: This is a violation of the First Amendment. This is a violation of separation of church and state. This is a blatant war on Christianity. It is a war on our conscience rights. It is a war on our basic human freedoms. And I never thought I would see the day in America, that I would see the ugly specter of Leninism, the ugly specter of Marxism, where you now have state coercion of religion, where you have a blatant, flagrant attempt to purge Christianity from the public square, being so openly and blatantly embraced by the president of the United States.

Janet, if this mandate goes through, if Obamacare is not repealed, I believe it will break the back of our constitutional republic, I believe it will be the end of the First Amendment as we’ve known it, and I believe we are on a path towards radical, secular liberalism, which in many ways is just a form of cultural Marxism.

Obama is our Lenin. He is embarking on a cultural, social, political transformation of this nation, and that is why Christians of all denominations, of all faiths, must stand up and vote this man out of office in November…

Kuhner: So I believe he is somebody who’s the product of the multicultural, neo-Marxist left. He despises Christianity. He despises our biblical principles. He despises the civilizational roots of American society. And he’s also, I believe –and there’s no getting around this – not that he’s a practicing Muslim or a believing Muslim, but he’s clearly a cultural Muslim.

And Janet, I have to say this, many people don’t understand this aspect of communism. Communism never sought to completely eradicate religion. Even they knew that was impossible. What they said was this: ‘We don’t want it in public. If you want to worship, that’s fine, do it in your own home, do it in your own head, do it in your own bedroom. But don’t take your faith outside the home, it doesn’t belong here.’

Mefferd: Well, I tell you, that sounds awfully familiar, and we know what Stalin ended up doing to millions and millions of people who would not bow the knee to him.

Oh, nonsense. Lenin and Stalin were both white guys. Shouldn’t you be comparing him to Idi Amin or Pol Pot?

Separation of church and state, etc.

Lying about intentions of Founding Fathers, etc.

Secularism, Liberalism, Marxism, Leninism, Communism, McCarthyism, ism, ism, ism, (all we are saying is give peace a chance) etc.

    Same shit, different day.

  2. Michael Heath says

As the year progresses and if the odds that President Obama will win re-election go up, how will this change the amplitude of Republican rhetoric? Especially from Christianists as they increasingly realize the rest of the country is so spiritually blind they deny that fact that Barack Hussein Obama is a black Kenyan Muslim Stalinist Leninist communist fascist Hitlerite ursuper member of al Qaeda, gay lover to Hugo Chavez, and consort to the House of Saud.

  3. says

@4…the issue is whether healthcare laws can require religious institutions to provide insurance for services they think immoral.

    Such as contraception.

So, if you work at a Catholic hospital, even if you’re happily married with 3 kids, if you don’t want another, the church wants to not have contraception paid for as part of your insurance package. They want to force you to pay yourself for the “immoral” act of not having another baby.

    Nobody said it makes sense.

I don’t believe that most Americans hold these views. Using all this negativity now is likely to reduce its shock value when it really counts. We can dream.

I personally find that the president is far from ideal. If the opposition would offer up an attractive alternative vision for this country, they could attract my vote. All they can present is the image of a place I would not want to live in.

  6. sceptinurse says

    Kevin,

    My question was actually rhetorical.

I have worked for catholic hospitals for 12 years. Interestingly enough neither one of them had problems with covering birth control for their employees. I also never saw the problems with refusing care (like abortion) if it was warranted. Warranted meaning anything from a missed abortion (even if it wasn’t causing problems yet)to a patient outright bleeding out. It may have something to do with being in California. Now I didn’t work in the ER so I don’t know what policies they had in place for things like rape and whether or not to offer the plan B option.

It just seems odd to me that all of this has become such an issue recently. It looks like desperate last attempts to stay relevant to me, especially with Santorum looking like he might have chance. I just hope that people can see what hell life would be if managed to win.

  7. jeffengel says

… and consort to the House of Saud.

Nah, they like consorts to the House of Saud. If he were Barack Husein Bush, it’d all be cool as far as that goes.

The last of those, unfortunately, is pretty much true. Just as it’s been for every president in the last 60 years.

Is this the famed American Exceptionalism I keep hearing about, as in Every one is sane except these Americans?

  11. Pinky says

Listening to Moonie Jeffrey Kuhner’s shrill rant about The Associations of Obama, showing in a theater near you, I realized why President Obama has such a retched medical marijuana policy.

Obama doesn’t want to be associated with the Rastafarian religion and its deity Haile Selassie♥, the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974.

If the Prez wavered for one moment on his war against marijuana, the wingnuts would become♦ screeching monkeys throwing their defecation everywhere proclaiming Obama to be (in addition to everything else he is said to be) a secret worshiper in the Rastafari movement and consume a pound or better of ganga weekly.

(♥ Haile Selassie was a great man, but ya’know he was a man of color who lead an African nation and he stood up to many white governments who knew best what was good for Ethiopia.)

(♦ But how would we know the difference?)

    [/snark]

  12. says

And he’s also, I believe –and there’s no getting around this – not that he’s a practicing Muslim or a believing Muslim, but he’s clearly a cultural Muslim.

What the hell does that even mean? What is a “cultural” Muslim, and how can one be a cultural Muslim without being an actual Muslim? If Obama wore a turban and ate Halal in spite of not being a practicing Muslim, that would be awfully strange, but it would at least fit the description. But we’re talking about a guy who wears business suits, appoints a Jew to the Supreme Court, and likes basketball and pork BBQ.

  13. Randomfactor says

At what point does the American voting public come to the Marty McFly realization on these right-winger pundits: “He’s an ASShole. I don’t care what he thinks!”

  14. Michael Heath says

Trebuchet responds to my pointing out conservative rhetoric criticizing President Obama’s supposed submissiveness to the House of Saud (especially his supposedly bowing to the current ruler):

The last of those, unfortunately, is pretty much true. Just as it’s been for every president in the last 60 years.

I take the long view where I argue we’ve been and continue to enjoy an incredible bargain from the Saudi’s, albeit at the expense of the Middle Eastern people. That bargain in no way requires us to consume their oil directly, just insure they are and remain a major supplier to the world oil market at current rates of production.

  15. Brownian says

What they said was this: “We don’t want it in public. If you want to worship, that’s fine, do it in your own home, do it in your own head, do it in your own bedroom.”

That’s what the communists said? I thought Jesus said that.

Just kidding. I know Jesus said that as much as anyone alive today knows what Jesus said.

  16. d cwilson says

Wait, now they believe in the separation of church and state? When did that happen?

Interestingly enough neither one of them had problems with covering birth control for their employees.

Of course. Just about every Catholic organization has signed off on the current policy, which actually doesn’t require them to pay a cent toward birth control. The only Catholics who are still pitching a fit are the pedophile protectors bishops.

  17. d cwilson says

You know, when I was a kid, the Moonies were this scary cult of weirdos who hung around airports and brainwashed people into thinking that Rev. Moon was Jesus reincarnated. They were considered below scientologists but above Jim Jones’ followers on the whacky cult scale. When exactly did they become a group that conservatives take seriously?

  18. jeffengel says

Rev. Moon owns the Washington Times. If you’re looking for a newspaper in D.C. and you don’t want the Post, there it is. It’s a mouthpiece for the right; ownership isn’t a big issue for the readers.

  19. grumpyoldfart says

Meanwhile, the rest of world just laughs and says “Those dopey Americans, there they go again…”

  20. emc2 says

When we first moved to DC, we subscribed to the Washington Times (It was really cheap compared to the Post). It was good for a few laughs*. We quickly decided that the Post was worth the extra expense. The Times called us a few times trying to get us to resubscribe and just to see what the reaction would be we told them they were ‘too liberal’ for us. They stopped calling at that point.

*They once called the Post the “enemy’s fish-wrapping,” and there one was large picture on the front page with Bush embracing one of the Saudi royal family. From the angle of the photo it looked like he was holding Bush by the testicles.

  21. Chiroptera says

He despises the civilizational roots of American society.

Have these clowns been reading the right wing rhetoric? Have these morons even been aware of what they themselves have been saying? ‘Cause when I point a finger at the folks who despise “the civilizational roots of American society,” it ain’t Obama I’m pointing at.

  22. calicocat says

I’ve heard a “Chairman Mao” tossed out a few times. I think that comparison should get used more. It’s sometimes easy to mix up Lenin and Stalin, their names practically rhyme! And really – everyone can’t be Hitler.

  23. KG says

    Is Obama Lenin or Stalin?

Oo! Oo! I know this one! The answer is: “No, he isn’t”!

Haile Selassie was a great man – pinky

No. He wasn’t. He was a stupid and corrupt tyrant, who lived in luxury and surrounded himself with sycophants while the people of Ethiopia starved.

  24. KG says

Meanwhile, the rest of world just laughs and says “Those dopey Americans, there they go again…” – grumpyoldfart

Um, no. That’s a luxury we can’t afford. Quite apart from all those nukes your President can launch, there’s the little matter of anthropogenic climate change, where the world desperately needs an American President who is both sane and politically courageous. Your current leader scores 1 out of 2; unfortunately, the only remotely plausible alternatives this year do considerably worse.

  25. F says

Bullshit. This is a Birth Control-Using Nation. We shouldn’t have to bow to a handful of loons and a Catholic hierarchy which not even Catholics listen to on the subject.

Let them stuff that up their arses and smoke it.

  26. Hercules Grytpype-Thynne says

But we’re talking about a guy who wears business suits, appoints a Jew to the Supreme Court, and likes basketball and pork BBQ.

You know who else wears business suits and likes basketball? Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. So there you go.

  27. Trebuchet says

That’s true, of course, but you need to explain it to the victims of 9/11/01, which was orchestrated by a Saudi citizen and paid for with Saudi money. Bush claimed he needed to attack Iraq because Sadam Hussein had something to do with 9/11. He attacked the wrong country.

  28. says

This can’t be real. Nobody who would fall for it can tell the difference between Lenin and Stalin. As far as they’re concerned, Lenin, Stalin, Marx, Trotsky, Hitler, and Mussolini were all the same person – and that person was bad.

  29. says

“You know who else wears business suits and likes basketball? Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. So there you go.”

But Abdul-Jabar wasn’t a cultural Muslim, he was just a practicing Muslim, and only 0.6 of a believing Muslim.

At least, that’s why my Muslometer says.

  30. Chiroptera says

    Is Obama Lenin or Stalin?

Are you sure this question wasn’t meant literally?

As in, was it Lenin or Stalin who went into cryogenic deep sleep and awoke in 2008 to run for US President?

  31. frankb says

As in, was it Lenin or Stalin who went into cryogenic deep sleep and awoke in 2008 to run for US President?

Now that is just plain silly. Everyone knows that couldn’t happen. Neither Stalin or Lenin could speak English, so they couldn’t run for president just after waking up;)

  32. llewelly says

How does health care reform affect the first amendment?

It is yet another insidious encroachment on their right to treat women as subhuman; incapable of making adult decisions about their own bodies.

  33. llewelly says

How, you ask, can it be that Obama is Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mohamed, and Tinky Winky all at the same time?
It is not so difficult to understand, once you recognize that these evil men were not human souls in the manner of Good Christian Americans.

They were, through and through, Creatures of Satan, Tools of Evil. The Spirit of Lucifer Himself animated each and every one, from birth until death.

And that same spirit animates Obama today!

He is the Foul Reincarnation of the Evil which threatens Christian America today!
