Wingnut on Wingnut Crime: Palin vs Everyone Else

Sarah Palin came to the defense of Newt Gingrich — who she is not endorsing, she wants you to know, she’s just urging people to vote for him — against attacks from their fellow wingnuts, comparing the attacks on him to the actions of *throwing dice with terrible dictators from history on it* Stalin.

“This week a few handpicked and selectively edited comments which Newt made during his 40-year career were used to claim that Newt was somehow anti-Reagan and isn’t conservative enough to go against the accepted moderate in the primary race,” she wrote. “What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stalin-esque rewriting of history. It was Alinsky tactics at their worst.”

Except that opposition dump came from the same people who support Palin. The attacks are coming from other conservatives, many of whom, unlike Palin, actually know Gingrich and worked with him for two decades in Congress. But hey, if you wanna compare those people to Stalin, I’m not gonna stand in your way. After all, you can see Russia from your breakfast nook.

Even some of her own followers on Facebook are in revolt over Palin’s support of Gingrich.

Color me surprised. After everything she’s already done, I figured there was absolutely nothing she could do that would cause her remaining followers to leave her.

Stalin is best known for running snide ad campaigns against his political opponents. This is true.

    Re Zinc Avenger @ #2

Actually, Stalin is best known for wasting his political opponents. Case in point, Leon Trotsky.

So the POG are turning on each other like mangy dogs? Well, would you expect anything other than PAC mentality?

Palin knows nothing more about Stalin than she knew about Africa, the country. She knows Stalin (and Hitler and Fascist, and communist) are dog-whistles for other ignorant conservatards with buzzword detectors. In the 3+ years since she was thrust upon us, she has learned nothing. A brain* with its intellect and curiosity destroyed.

The Republicans have sure made “Alinsky” their whistle word of the month. Do you think Palin’s ghost writer even briefed her on who Alinsky was and what he did?

I can see a reporter talking to Palin:

Reporter: “Ms. Palin, you’ve bring up Saul Alinsky’s name quite regularly, do you know who he was?”

Palin: “Again with the gotcha questions. Sure I knew who Hal Alinsky was. He got in George Washington’s way at Valley Forge and he was caught opening Abe Lincoln’s mail…but it has to be about jobs…jobs um and small town values fighting against the elites with education and high I.Q.s …when I was president of Wasilla books came into our library I did not like, I asked Tod where the library was and …”

Reporter interrupts Palin by reaching over and knocking on Palin’s head like it was a door saying: “Hello, hello, is anyone home?”

I thought they were both on board too.

You know the horrific atrocities carried out by Stalin and Hitler have been an incredible gift to wingnuts. No nuanced arguments, no evidence, no integrity, just accuse your opponents of being like either of these two evil men (even if it makes no sense) and BAM! argument won. Imagine if those events never happened, then they would actually have to PROPERLY justify their bullshit. A task that even the great “intellectual”* Gingrich would have trouble accomplishing.

*Speaking of which, why is it fine for Gingrich to be an intellectual but not college professors? How come old Newt isn’t an elitist?

    @woodview,

just accuse your opponents of being like either of these two evil men

…or both as the wingnuts have labeled Obama.

He should be, considering he spent time in France and Brussels so should know some French (maybe better than Mittens), he really fucked up an interview in Spanish (he first seemed to say he could, then he demured on being able to answer, then found he couldn’t understand…), and he also set up an interdisciplinary environmental studies program. (Treehugger!)
