If you want to see some serious crazy, look no further than Andrew Adler, editor of the Atlanta Jewish Times, who actually wrote an article urging the government of Israel to consider sending Mossad agents to assassinate President Obama. He offers three things Israel could or should do in response to Iran possibly getting nuclear weapons. Here’s the third:
Three, give the go-ahead for U.S.-based Mossad agents to take our a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order for the current vice-president to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish state obliterate its enemies.
Yes, you read “three” correctly. Order a hit on a president in order to preserve Israel’s existence.
He has since offered a not-pology:
The owner of the Atlanta Jewish Times apologized for an opinion column in which he counted President Obama’s assassination as among Israel’s options in heading off a nuclear Iran.
“I very much regret it, I wish I hadn’t made reference to it at all,” Andrew Adler told JTA on Friday.
No, that’s not an apology. Saying he regrets saying it is not the same thing as recognizing that what he said was wrong. He could just as easily regret it because of the blowback, not because he realizes that it was wrong. I suspect he may be getting a visit from the Secret Service soon. He’ll probably regret it more then.
