Obama Keeps Gingrich Off VA. Ballot

Crooks and Liars catches some of the wingnuts at Tea Party Nation blaming the fact that Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry can’t get on the primary ballot in Virginia on — of course — President Obama.

Mind you, the primary is controlled solely by the Virginia Republican Party. Obama had nothing at all to do with it. Besides, Obama would love to see Gingrich win Virginia and the whole nomination. The last thing he wants to see is the Gingrich campaign hampered.

The punchline to the whole thing is that Gingrich says he’s gonna mount a serious write-in campaign, which is not allowed in Virginia primaries. Good luck with that.

They’re getting lazy. They forgot to tie in Soros, ACORN, or the two members of the New Black Panther party to the conspiracy.

The irony in this whole situation is just so delicious. A party that continuously pushes for more stringent restrictions on who can and can’t voice their opinion by voting or petitioning. . . is complaining about the very restrictions that they lauded when they were first implemented. Maybe getting a taste of their own medicine will get them to wake up a little. . . But I doubt it.

Yet another reason to vote for Obama: He has the power to make Virginia Republicans change their primary procedures just by wanting it to happen. Too bad he didn’t use this Jedi mind trick on Congressional Republicans during the last couple of years.

Although given the field of Republican presidential candidates, maybe he has.

Obamawan Kenobi: You don’t want to vote for Newt.
Virginia PoG voter: We don’t want to vote for a newt.
Obamawan Kenobi: Nothing to see here, move along.
Virginia PoG voter: Nothing to see here – move along!
[Virginia PoG voter waves them through the road block]

Just yesterday I read a hilarious quote by Hitchens on the Tea Party:

    “All politics is yokel”
