Rick Perry came out last week and declared himself “the Tim Tebow of the Iowa caucuses.” Overrated? Check. Getting attention primarily because of his pandering to Christians? Check. Crumbles when he runs into a team that knows what they’re doing? Check. Yep, sounds like an accurate comparison to me.

Remember that Perry is from Texas and football players are like god to many down here. As with most of what Gov. Goodhair says it plays in Texas but stumbles at the boarder.

Can’t throw a forward pass. (check) Making the leadership of his organization uncomfortable, because they know he isn’t a long term winner, and they don’t want to alienate the loyal fan base (check).

Tebow got creamed by the New England Patriots last Sunday, too. The main candidate in the race who is associated with New England is Romney, who is the former governor of Massachusetts. So I guess Perry is saying that Romney will destroy him in the primaries.

As I stated on another blog, the hype over Tebow reminds me of one Joe Willie Nameth, probably the most overrated quarterback in the history of the NFL. Joe Willie was blown up as a great quarterback by the hype of ignorant sports reporters because his team, the New York Jets defeated the heavily favored former Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. Of course, anyone who knows anything about football and watched the game knew that the only think Joe Willie contributed to the Jet’s victory was not screwing up and throwing interceptions, something he was wont to do during his career. It was the Jet’s defense and running back Matt Snell who won the game, not Joe Willie.

Arrogant douche who loves to pray in public? Check. I have always hated the Broncos so this Teblow thing has hit me in the short and curlies.

I lost my zest for watching football in the early-80s with a handful of annual exceptions, so I’m certainly no expert. One exception was last Sunday since I’m a longtime Tom Brady fan going back to his U. of MI days, plus I had an email dialogue with my local paper’s editor about Tebow where the editor published a column in the news opinion section asserting the criticism against Tebow was unwarranted where I disagreed and showed just how defective his argument was.
Last Sunday I thought Mr. Tebow threw the ball pretty well and performed well. However he was going against one of the greatest QB’s of all time who performed up to his abilities. Couple that to the Bronco’s clearly getting out-coached in that game against the Patriots and the results were not surprising.

There’s a team that knows what they are doing? Where?

And the Broncos have three plays in their playbook, one of which Tebow can’t remember.

Re Michael Heath @ #10
The trouble is that the Patriot defense is not up to snuff. In the previous week, they made Deadskin quarterback Rex Grossman, who the fans here would like to hang, draw, and quarter, look halfway decent and almost ended up losing to a pathetic team.

I dunno. There are an awful lot of Broncos fans who would rather lose with Tebow than win with anyone else. That’s what pisses me off about Tebow-mania. His actual talents are irrelevant to most of his fans. Keep in mind, he did not get the job because of merit.

Agree with #13. Statistically, the Pats have the worst defense in the league. The fact that they’re 11-3 (or whatever) is a testament to Brady and the rest of their offense. If there was a team against which Tebow should have been able to score, this was it. And Denver’s defense is awesome, but apparently not awesome enough to keep Brady in check. Tebow gave a mediocre performance, as can be said about almost all of his other outings.

The Detroit Lions beat Tebow and the Broncos 45-10. Anyone who gets their ass handed to them that badly by the Lions isn’t all that good.
I’ll give the Lions credit where it’s due, they are much improved these last 2 seasons.

“I’m a huge lions fan. Not the football team – the ones that ate the Christians”.

Thinks God is his personal best buddy and helps him win, while failing to notice all the people that God doesn’t help. Check.
The Xtian I find most annoying is the one who’s sure that their wedding day had nice weather because they prayed for it, but never stops to think, gee, why doesn’t God help the millions of children dying of starvation and preventable diseases in the third world?
