After several days of striking the “I’ll never back down, I’m a Texan” pose, that handgun instructor in Texas has backed down in the face of possibly losing his license if he didn’t do so. He now says he will not discriminate against Muslims, liberals or Obama voters:
A state investigation into a Mason concealed-handgun instructor who advertised that he would not teach the state-sanctioned class to non-Christians, “socialist liberals” or people who voted for President Obama has ended after the instructor agreed not to discriminate.
In a statement released late this evening, Tom Vinger, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said an investigation of Crockett Keller has been closed after Keller “affirmed that he would not refuse instruction to anyone based on national origin, race or religion.”
Not that it really matters. The likelihood of a liberal, Obama voter or Muslim taking a class from that loony is pretty slim. Would you want to be around him and others like him when they have guns, even if you had your own?

Hey, I might go take the course from him. It ought to be hilarious to listen to that nut. I might take my buddy Tarick with me as well. I have been thinking about getting my CHL for a while now and this would serve a dual purpose of getting my CHL and annoying a kook.
BTW, I bet this guy is really appreciating all the free advertising he has gotten from this.

Better title: Big, Brave Texan Wets Pants.
I’m hoping a bunch of liberals and Obama supporters (not necessarily the same thing) sign up for his class. They should show up in rainbow shirts and probably wear body armor.

Goes to show you how committed they truly are to gun rights. As long as guns are going to the “right people”, they don’t give a shit.

@3&4,
I have clearly wasted my life in IT and should have gone into marketing.

I didn’t closely follow the last couple threads on the guy, but that’s one bit of hypocrisy I hadn’t considered.
As for gun control in general, my ideal situation would be writing gun laws in such a way that only responsible people would be able to keep their guns. The trouble is actually figuring out how to write such laws without exploits and loopholes, and even more difficult: Get the gun nuts to see the importance of responsible gun ownership so that it has a chance of actually passing.

I think everyone can get on board with this, but certain people have different definitions for “responsible”.

Well, isn’t that white of him?

It seems to me that if you need a course to learn how to conceal a handgun, you probably shouldn’t be allowed to own one in the first place.
