Remember that clerk in New York who is refusing to sign marriage certificates for gay couples even though that state has full marriage equality? Well she’s getting a challenger in the next election who is making an issue out of it. Hope he wins.

Hope he gets some votes. As it is now IIRC, a deputy clerk is doing the clerk’s job. That should be enough to get her booted next cycle but you never know with these rural areas.
Her challenger is Ed Easter. He is quoted as saying, “You have a right to your religion but it doesn’t say she gets to do what she wants to do.” He is recommending that Belforti (the current
clerkmoron) resign. Good for him.MikeMa

Added bonus: Belforti is on youtube sponsored by some fundies publishing her illegal action. About a minute in she starts her theocracy rant. Her imagined religious freedom apparently trumps the rights of others. She and her ilk should move to Saudi Arabia or Iran where their views would be welcome and supported. Sort of.
