Sally Kern Brings the Crazy Again

Sally Kern continues to display her authoritarianism and ignorance with statements like this, from an interview with Peter LaBarbera:

LaBarbera: I believe the organized homosexuality movement is an evil movement, its organized sin. It’s taking what God says is wrong and pushing it literally as a right, as a civil right.

Kern: Well I think they’re trying to get the moral high ground and of course America was founded upon freedom and equality, and so they’ve hijacked that…. And as I’ve said earlier, I think they play up on freedom and equality. Sure we want everybody to have freedom and equality, but there should not be freedom and equality for sinful actions.

Yeah, see? It makes perfect sense. Freedom means you can do whatever Sally Kern wants you to do, not that you can do what you want to do. Up is down, black is white, and Republicans love smaller government.

If you have children or grandchildren, if you believe that America has been a great nation and you want to see it continue to be a great nation, now is the time to wise up and rise up about what’s going on in America. We do have an enemy who wants to destroy us. They are using sexual perversion to destroy the future of America, the future of our children, and we don’t have a minute to lose.

The only ones trying to destroy anything are bigots like Kern and LaBarbera, who want to destroy the lives of gay people.

“there should not be freedom and equality for sinful actions.”

Is Kern suggesting that advertising which uses sexual innuendo should be illegal, since it can inspire sinful thoughts? Does she think that guns should be illegal, since they are used to commit violence?

I’ve seen more and more the meme of ‘the constitution is great except for …’ followed by whatever supposed plague the writer/speaker is railing against. Kern is just another anti-constitution, anti-American railing against sin, a concept not in the constitution, but only in her mind. She has an intellect poisoned by religion and a perfect poster child for the power and rightness of separation of church and state.

“there should not be freedom and equality for sinful actions.”

A very consise description of the entire Christian dominionist movement.

These are the sorts of people I would challenge to the child’s cut-the-cake game. THEY can decide how much power the government has to regulate sin per se. And then I will decide what counts as a ‘sin.’ I bet they’d do an about-face on their ‘there should not be freedom’ claim so fast they’d get whiplash.

(We can also switch roles, but the second game will be a lot less politically illuminating and a lot more boring, because I will simply say “zero power.”)

I have gay friends. Some of them are even married to each other. Can someone please ask Sally exactly how they’re planning to destroy my kids’ future, so I can know what to look for? Apparently, I don’t have a minute to lose.

  5. Captain Mike says

To be fair, I’ve been trying to use sexual perversion to destroy America for some time now. It hasn’t been working, but it’s been a lot of fun.

  6. scienceavenger says

Oh you sad silly gnomes, it’s simple:

    Step 1: Sexual Perversion

    Step 2: ?

    Step 3: DESTROY AMERICA!

Now what exactly do you not understand?

  7. Daniel Schealler says

    Man.

    Now I feel all inadequate.

It’s not like I can threaten the very fabric of society from the privacy of my own bedroom with my penis.

    Stupid heterosexuality.

  8. Modusoperandi says

LaBarbera: I believe the organized homosexuality movement is an evil movement, its organized sin.

    It’s hardly “organized”.

Daniel Schealler “It’s not like I can threaten the very fabric of society from the privacy of my own bedroom with my penis.”
    That depends:
    1. Are you on Twitter?
    2. Does your phone have a camera?
    3. Does your last name meld amusingly with your personal, shared, eventually public, shame?

    *ahem*

It’s not like I can threaten the very fabric of society from the privacy of my own bedroom with my penis.

Still, I like that that’s where your mind went. ^_^

What’s the ratio of homosexual sinning to destruction? How much of Americas future is destroyed by some low-level fantasies about me and members of a certain football team? What happens if I go all out and have a gang-bang with the whole team? I need some hard facts so I can make a sound, considered decision.
(though maybe I’ll try to organise the gang-bang anyway)

  11. had3 says

    #11,
by “football team” you mean soccer, right? Cuz everyone knows that soccer’s european and gay, ergo, contributing to our downfall.

  12. Modusoperandi says

Daniel Schealler “It’s not like I can threaten the very fabric of society from the privacy of my own bedroom with my penis.”
    Then explain Chat Roulette!

“Still, I like that that’s where your mind went. ^_^”
Back in my day, we had to harass women nakedly over the internet by punch card. It took forever.

  13. pa747sp says

    had3 @12

Well, I’d happily entertain a soccer squad, but actually I meant Australian Rules Football. Google ‘Steele Sidebottom’, ‘Chris Dawes’ or ‘Dane Swan’ to see why.

    Luxury.

Back in my day we had to harass women nakedly via carrier pigeon! We would have to teach the pigeons how to draw with sticks of charcoal, then drop our trousers and give the wee bird a look. Then we’d release it and off it would go – but only after having a good peck and a slash at the old two fruit and veg, let me tell you.

I used to lie awake at night just dreaming about harassing women by punch card.

  15. marymallone says

Ugh, keyboard. Anyway, there shouldn’t be freedom and equality for sinful acts? I wonder what the alternative would be – criminalization, perhaps [I'm assuming that "no freedom and equality for sinful acts" means that people are not free do do anything perceived as sinful...please do correct me if my interpretation is erroneous]? What a mess that would be if you could get arrested for sinning! Yikes.

  16. dingojack says

Sally: “Sure we want everybody to have freedom and equality, but there should not be freedom and equality for sinful actions.”
Matthew 19:9 [Matthew is directly quoting the actual words of Jesus] “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
So Sally wants to discriminate against the thrice divorced Rush Limbaugh! Well who could argue with that!

  17. John Hinkle says

Well shit, I wish God had thought about that before letting Eve get talked into eating that magical fruit.
