Farah’s Anti-Jihadist Nonsense

Worldnutdaily Grand Poobah Joseph Farah writes a typically hysterical column extolling the virtues of Pam Geller’s latest bit of crazy, which is a handbook for fighting the marauding hordes of Muslims set to take over America any minute now. I especially loved this line:

Are you willing to lie down and accept the multicultural mumbo-jumbo that suggests America must embrace a future of second-class citizenship for women, a dual legal system that stands the Constitution on its head and the kind of violence and terrorism and aggression that characterize so much of the Islamic world?

In competitive debate, the negative team offers disadvantages to the affirmative team’s plan. A disadvantage has two basic parts, a link and an impact — the plan causes X and that’s bad because it leads to Y. And the Islamophobe crowd offers an argument with that same structure: Islamists are going to take over America (link) and that’s going to be bad because it leads to beheading people, killing infidels and so forth (impact).

But their responses to critiques of this argument are fundamentally dishonest because they pretend that disputing the link part of their argument means one is in favor of the impact taking place. But that’s completely illogical. The imposition of Sharia law would, of course, be a terrible thing for the country and for me in particular. I am, after all, one of the infidels that could end up losing his head as a result. No one is questioning that this impact scenario would be a very bad thing indeed.

But that isn’t the issue. The issue is whether there is any real chance of that happening, whether the link argument is a valid one. And it isn’t. The wingnuts can’t offer anything even approaching a realistic scenario by which the very small percentage of American Muslims who might favor such results could possibly get them implemented in this country. It’s nothing more than a dystopic delusion.

There is only one way in which the Islamic extremists can succeed in diminishing American liberty, by making us so afraid of them that we cast aside the constitutional safeguards that protect us from governmental intrusion in the name of keeping us safe from the overwhelming threat. And folks, they succeeded in doing that the minute we passed the Patriot Act.

Wait, hasn’t supporting those very things been a key plank in the religious right’s platform for decades?

Hell, I’ve been debated a lot of fundies who use the “multicultural” idea of cultural relativism all the time to justify biblical genocide, rape, and torture on the grounds that those things were normal for those people and for gods at that time. Who am I to try to impose modern, secular, democratic rule of law on them?

I wonder what sort of cleaning might work to allow these xian terrorists to recognize that it’s not a window they are looking out of but a mirror.

As opposed to lying down and accepting your monocultural mumbo-jumbo that suggests all the same things?

I suppose he’s got a point – it is unpatriotic to import repressive philosophies when we have homegrown ones we could adopt.

If you don’t think America can survive Islam, then you don’t have faith in America. And the religious right is supposed to be all about faith.

This trash is the same filth the right has been saying about every ethnic group to arrive in the states since the Irish. It’s always a load of crap, as American culture (with the exception of groups that live in self-imposed isolation, which means little to no political power) always turns us all into Americans…why can’t people grasp that?

I’m sure the fact that we have about a dozen of the three hundredish CAV Soldiers who pray towards Mecca every Friday would blow their fucking minds.

I simply can’t read a WND article without reading what WND’s readers shit all over the comment section. It’s always a gold mine of hatred, stupidity, paranoia, and downright insanity. This one was no exception:

Thank God for the likes of Pam Geller and a few others. They alone are leading the fight against Islam’s greatest weapon, their propaganda machine.
Anyone who even discusses Islam in the same breath as religion, is a suicidal moron.

Yeah, Islam is doing really well in the propaganda department. The overall image of Muslims that Americans have is SO positive.

i think when the twin towers fell that plan became obsolete. there is simply NO SUCH THING as your average everyday friendly muslim. they are all participants (willing or unwilling – makes no difference) working towards the same goal. but be my guest , knock yourself out. this is a slow motion tsunami we are witnessing worldwide.

Yep, no such thing as an average, normal Muslim. All the Muslims who work or study in my building on campus (and there are a lot) aren’t just normal people who want to have a job and a family and a life. Nope. All terrorists, taking over America by studying the English language and American culture at Indiana University. Those devious bastards!

I think ‘seperation of church and state’ means that I can turn the other
cheek and at the same time call for say, tighter immigration reform. Our civil leaders have a responsibility for the assimilation of immigrants, which they cannot or will not fulfill.

The mainstream media refuses to show problems with Islamic terrorism in Europe where Islam has become a sizable minority or in the USA were it hasn’t. (See danielpipes.org)

After the subway bombings in ‘Londonistan’ one could hear the Islamic leadership spreading the blame around to others (as in NYC after 911), but it was the silence of “moderate Islam” that spoke the loudest (non-assimilation). On Jersey City (Heights), USA, Islam was shown rejoicing and celebrating as the twin towers burned and fell (non-assimilation). Not to deny though, that America should also assimilate to the Judeo-Christian values that are very much a part of Americas past and were once taught in the public schools (before 1950) – crime like terrorism has increased since then.

So separation of church and state means that government institutions should be converting people to Christianity. Wrap your mind around that.

Robert Berger… Show proof that Joseph Farah wants a Christian theocracy. Just because someone is a Christian does not prove that he wants a theocracy. And why should he show shame for supporting the gospel of Jesus Christ? I am certainly not ashamed of the Gospel. obama, on the other hand is. He says he’s a Christian, but nothing he does or says demonstrates that he is. He only says he is a Christian to dupe those who know no better. Anyone who supports islam and slams true Christianity is evil. Islam is a false religion which has it’s origins in moon worship. Alla was the god of the moon whom Muhamed picked as his diety. This false god is not the same as Yahweh, the Great I AM, creator of the Universe.

How DARE you suggest we want a theocracy?! Oh, and by the way, our current leader is illegitimate because he’s not the right kind of Christian…

the average muslim , looks like is not avrage you don’t hear a bleeb/here and there/ billions of them and millions here waiting in bunkers for orders , when they come out to late!

with one brush stroke i infidels am brushed over!

    ……..What?

whats a constitution ? OH YEAH, you mean that tired old “living document” yadda yadda & etc etc etc. you are simply wrong fellow. these folks think in terms of decades & centuries. a muslim family may appear to have adjusted, assimilated, fit in, for generations, however you want to describe it, but they will stand at the ready to answer the call or provide assistance when required to. there is simply NO SUCH THING as the “average Muslim people”. read your koe ran. they are allowed much latitude as first wave invaders to appear to be normal. it is all in there. that ain’t fear mongering chump. READ IT FOR YOURSELF.

Ah, yes, the devious “Move to a country, live there for generations, let your children become assimilated to the culture after decades or centuries, and then BOOM! Take over!” strategy. Works every time.

As far as I am concerned, I would not believe a word a Muslim tells me. Their book is the Quoran, and for those who know anything about this book, unlike our Bible which offers “guidance”, the Quoran is a Mandatory Dictate which must be obeyed without question at all times..

Yeah, Christians in this country sure treat the Bible like it merely offers guidance rather than Eternal Moral Dictates.

Muslims who tell you they are peaceful and not part of this radical and evil Islamist group, are practicing “Al Taqiyya”..which allows a Muslim to lie and cheat and do whatever he has to do to convince the Infidels he is on their side..Goggle this term or look it up on You Tube..

All of them. Every last one is practicing Al Taqiyya. Because, like Christians, Muslims are all always on the same page and interpret their scriptures exactly the same way.

Shariah law was brought in to Europe and the UK by stealth and the same thing is happening here..already “sleeper cells” of radicalized Muslims are in this country in every major city and town, ready for the call to Jihad..Please be prepared and trust only your true Patriotic family and friends..we are on borrowed time..I firmly believe Obama Bin-Lyin is a Muslim Illegal in the White House and is part of this serious problem..God Bless America..

Ha! Yeah, fuck people who have slightly different views from me.

God bless America! And our democratically elected president is an illegal terrorist foreigner! And those two sentences don’t conflict with each other in any way!

How about we elect a President, a representative, that will appoint federal judges that aren’t activists for Islam. Then the rest of us can save our money and actually have time to live our lives instead of running around putting out fires which never should have been started to begin with. What a novel idea.

Did Webster’s Dictionary change the definition of “novel” to “painfully retarded” when I wasn’t looking?

Pam Geller is a Godsend! American Patriots should stand ready to protect her from anyone who would do her harm…the Truth always wins…

Why do I get the feeling that in this person’s mind, “do her harm” includes such things as pointing out what an idiot she is, and “protect her” involves what Sharon Engel would call “second amendment remedies”?

What is the proper repsonse to a growing trend for Muslim leaders to impose Islamic values on their own community that differ from the cultural norms of a country as a whole? http://goo.gl/26G7N Or should this be considered to be an acceptable manifestation of multiculturalism, despite having many disagreeable aspects?

In the UK there are at least 35 sharia courts dealing with inter-Muslim disputes, including marital disputes, where women do not have equal rights. Arranged marriages, with unknown people from another country, are commonplace and these are sometimes forced against the will. It strikes me that there is little that can be done to stop this. It is a form of gang culture and gang culture is very hard/impossible to prevent. This type of gang culture has the advantage of hiding behind political correctness and sensitivity to offending deeply-held, religious views.

Your story in no way validates your assertion. In fact it doesn’t even attempt to do that.

If laws are being broken, then get law enforcement involved. Which is pretty much what the article to which you linked says is happening.

    What do you suggest?

In the UK there are at least 35 sharia courts dealing with inter-Muslim disputes, including marital disputes, where women do not have equal rights.

Every time someone brings this up, commenters from the UK point out that this is not true.

There are similar courts in the U.S., and in every case where disputants have come before actual courts of law to appeal or have an order enforced, any provision of the sharia courts that conflicted with US secular law was overridden. To the extent, for example, that sharia courts do not provide for women’s equal rights, their orders are unenforceable under US law. See Tarikonda v. Pinjari, MI Court of Appeals, April 2009.

If you want to make an honest argument about religious arbitration, you could do that. And one shouldn’t start with a link to the Hate Mail. (Stop the unnecessary use of short links, by the way.)
