Life Under Trump’s Budget

I’m scrimping and saving;
I squeeze every dime;
Conserving each penny
And wasting no time
I’m cutting my budget
For groceries or heat
And the cents I’ve been paying
For Sesame Street
There’s no food to speak of,
So when we give thanks,
We say it for obsolete
Fighters and tanks.

These recent privations
Are making me chafe—
But Trump says his focus
Is keeping us safe!
We need these munitions
To keep up our fight!
Our nation is strongest
When we are most white free
The wall is protection;
The arts just exploit
The coal-mining father
Or mom from Detroit

Our armies are bigger
But not by enough
The lefties might hate it
But frankly, that’s tough
We’ve got to get stronger—
He’s given his word—
Good-bye Bert and Ernie;
Good riddance, Big Bird
The mom from Detroit knows
How cutting back feels
(Oh, yes, that reminds me:
Buh-bye Meals On Wheels.)

To build up defenses
Will cost us a mint
We just can’t afford
To have water for Flint.
Affordable housing
Just gets in the way
And business is king,
So get stuffed, EPA.
The “safety net” programs?
We’re cutting them all;
You can’t expect rich folks
To pay for the wall.

    Great poem, horrific reality.

    Furthermore, as you may already know :

    U.S. military expenditures are roughly the size of the next seven largest military budgets around the world, combined. U.S. military spending dwarfs the budget of the #2 country – China. For every dollar China spends on its military, the U.S. spends $2.77.

    Some pretty good graphs illustrating the facts there too.

    Well, wages are cheaper in China, so they get more bang for their buck (pun intended.)
