The Idiot Bloc

(sorry, this is at best in draft form. some is third person, some first, without warning. Forgive me my verbical sins, and assume I meant what you hope I meant.)

It’s astonishing to witness;
It’s remarkable to see;
But the world of Trump supporters
Is a scary place for me.

It’s a world in which reality
Is not seen on the news—
No, reality’s constructed
To support a bigot’s views

Dancing Muslims in New Jersey
As the towers burned and fell—
Though no network can confirm this
It’s the truth that Trump will tell

Trump is honest; Trump is truthful;
Trump is rich, and can’t be bought—
Trump’s the only POTUS hopeful
Who will say the things he ought!

Though the networks are united
In proclaiming “Donald lies!”
They’re conspiring against him,
So it’s really no surprise

Even well-respected leaders
When they say that Trump is wrong
Are a part of the conspiracy,
And have to play along

So, Republican officials
Are reduced to spineless shills,
Or, at best, reluctant lackeys
Who complain against their wills

It’s a special sort of someone
Who can look behind the screen—
See the truth about the Donald
What the numbers really mean

He’s our hero and our savior
And he’s got a tale to tell
The Republican establishment
Can all just go to Hell

Don’t you tell me he’s a liar—
He’ll be president next year!
Cos he says the things that others won’t,
But which we long to hear—

Like, Obama is a Muslim
And he wants to take our guns
He’s got bad religious motives;
We’ve got perfect Christian ones.

Yup, Barack Hussein Obama
Wants to see Sharia laws;
Trump would post the Ten Commandments
Which is not the same. Because.

Yes, Trump used to be a liberal;
Yes, he used to be pro-choice—
But today, the multi-billionaire
Gives little folks his voice!

And he says the things the others won’t;
The things I want to hear!
I’m not bad—no, I’m the victim!
Donald makes it crystal clear!

It’s a world in which reality
Is not seen on the news—
No, reality’s constructed
To support a bigot’s views

It’s astonishing to witness;
It’s remarkable to see;
But the world of Trump supporters
Is a scary place for me.

My Goodness!

Today’s verse was inspired by a whole fucketonne of Trump supporters in New Hampshire. And in case there are any weasels here hoping to accuse me of cherry-picking, I am being entirely over-generous in linking to these … people… instead of simply applying the labels they have earned. I mean… the *enthusiastic* woman is not just a fan of Trump–she is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives! In New Hampshire, though, you only need about twelve supporters to get you voted into one of the largest representative bodies in the world. If there is a constituency of idiots, they will have representation in New Hampshire.

The good news is, most of New Hampshire is embarrassed by these people. The bad news is, these people are far more likely to vote than are the rest of the people in New Hampshire.

Seriously…if you have not, yet, then REGISTER TO VOTE!. And then, y’know, actually vote, when it comes time.

    Wow! Your rough drafts should get higher marks
    Than other writers’ polished snarks.
    The Cuttlefish trumps every phony
    And shows that Donald is baloney.
    These testimonials were staged
    As propaganda smugly waged.
    Bah, humbug…

    New Hampshire? Isn’t that the place that screwed over all of US economy by electing Sen. Brown which allowed a Republican minority to obstruct any economic moves by Obama?

    Yeah, I doubt that most of NH is embarrassed by them. Some certainly, but most?

  3. Cuttlefish says

    Last time NH elected a Senator Brown was in 1932, and he was a democrat. If you mean Scott Brown, I think that was MA.

    And remember, although Trump is leading in NH, he does not have a majority, even of republicans. He has the distinction of simultaneously being the most popular and most unpopular of the candidates.

    How awkward. You’re right, of course, I was thrown off by him moving back to NH for the 2014 senatorial bid.
    I guess I need to give NH some slack…

  5. PatrickG says

    Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon that an Independent run isn’t out of the question yet. He and his supporters want more respect from the Republican establishment. “For them to go out and back stab him like this, you know what? I’m done with the Republican party,” Johnson said. She will go with him if he runs as a third-party candidate, and says she’ll bring her people with her.
