The Taliban must be so pissed off

Malala’s getting a head start on the prize-winning.

Malala Yousafzai, who was shot last year by Taliban militants for her advocacy of girls’ education, has been awarded theSakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought by European lawmakers.

The 16-year-old, considered a contender for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, joins previous winners of Europe’s top human rights award, including Peace Prize laureates Aung San Suu Kyi and Nelson Mandela.

You know, maybe shooting her in the head wasn’t such a good idea after all. Talk about a Streisand effect…

A remarkable girl. I’ve just watched the BBC documentary on her, and it’s her bravery more than anything that shines through. Just days before she was shot she gave an interview in the street to a TV reporter; despite knowing that four Taliban were stood right behind her listening to every word she was unflinching in her criticism of their draconian rules.

She has said she doesn’t deserve it yet.
The Taliban agree- probably the only thing they agree about.

I don’t know about Malala winning the Nobel Prize – she deserves it more than some previous recipients did- but it really sends shivers down my spine hear her say that she wishes to become a politician in Pakistan. That sounds like a death wish! Far more powerful women and men than Malala have died in pakistani politics and it doesnt seem worth it at all…

I doubt that the Taliban have ever heard of Sakharov or Nobel.

I any of them hear the names, they will probably call for their assassination.
