So I did this yesterday – a live discussion thing at the Huffington Post, with Rebecca and Sikivu. It was about the atheism-women issue.

Ugh, that question. Yeah, why doesn’t atheism have its own Relief Society where the laydeez can get together and talk about their babies and bake sales and how to crochet doilies (and whatever other things interest the little dears) without bothering the real atheists: men?
Right? “Get your own atheism, this one’s ours!” The hell it is.
“Talk about it” was the theme of a meme* a couple years back, mostly on Twitter, here in Scandinavia. That came before, and possibly even precipitated, the arrest warrant on watsisname Wikiboy** who is now in limbo on some equalatorial embassy or other in fear of being extradited to face his charges of rape, or maybe a bit of treason and espionage on top. At least those parts I can remember, somewhat.
* Talking about rape and sexual assault/harassment.
** Lasagne, was it?
I watched this morning — really excellent discussion, from some of my favorite atheists. Also, is there some sort of MRA bat signal to call them all? That comment thread at HuffPo is full of slyme.

Can anyone track the correlation between Rand and rape apologists? It would certainly explain how this misogynist undercurrent could be so prominent in atheist circles.
I found it strange that you were “Ophelia” and Rebecca was “Rebecca” but Sikivu was “Dr Hutchinson”.
Hmm – maybe she just wasn’t sure how to say Sikivu?
