   OK, here’s my take:

   I think Justin is attempting something noble. Yes, I do.

   I think he’s wrong to assume good faith in all of the people he’s reaching out to. Justicar, for example, I think is a victim of NPD. Some of the other Slimepitters strike me as incoherent, but what do I know? We’re all susceptible to incoherence: cognitive bias, and such.

   Some of the ERVites may be arguing in good faith. I grok the 4chan thing; I also grok that 4chan, by its very nature, exhibits worthless shit as well as gold.

   Justin has closed that thread. I’m kinda sorry he did (I had just composed a comment myself!) But maybe he’s realized that there is more good faith on one side of this divide than the other.

   At least, that is how it looks to me. But I could be wrong.

    @Stacey: That’s how I read it. He started, or at least tried to start at a somewhat neutral place, and ended up telling the slimepitters to chill out and to knock it off. Maybe my reading of it is wrong and biased by what I would like people to say about it, but that’s what I read of it.

    Well, that was interesting. Now Justin Griffith’s post is still there, and his final comment, and the rest is all gone. All the comments, gone except for whatever we have stuck in our memories. I don’t even remember if I commented on anything in that thread – probably did – no loss – nothing worthy of immortalizing.

    Interesting that JG’s final comment sounds really pissed at some of the slimers:

    It’s also shameful to turn this into a chance to shit all over my peers, when you KNOW it bothers them. I asked for calm. I don’t want to have to learn how to ban etc. When I get driveby comments lobbed against me, I usually make them into a post and leave them up. You guys are spamming here at mindboggling pace. I can’t keep up, and it looks like I’m just giving you a platform to speak to my peers in ways you know I don’t like, and they don’t like. Keep that shit on ERV or whatever ‘new leaf’ you’ve got going from now on.

    Ophelia, I did not mean to be dismissive or handwaiving of your concerns. I get it, and it does matter to me, too.

    Nice outcome, I think. Too bad the process was so rough.
