Mais non! The proper quote is “où sont les trolls d’antan?” Who cares about snow?

Well I left off “d’antan” because it’s already melting. In fact, weirdly, it was almost gone from the trees three blocks north of where I am while it was still quite thick here. Three blocks! I didn’t know I lived in a microclimate. (Well I did – I live at the top of a hill and I know the snow melts sooner at the bottom of the hill. But this was just…three blocks away down a barely perceptible slope. I walked north – the snow was dripping off the trees – I walked back south again – there was the thick snow.)

Snow… I understand it as a concept, but I’ve spent so many years in Florida that it is a distant memory. Maybe since I’ve recently moved to Virginia, I’ll see some of the white nasty stuff.

… I think my wife and I might be switching cars. Joe gets back in the ‘Stang!

    How lovely! I miss snow.

I believe it! I think it’s a northern Pacific Coast thing. Used to live in Santa Cruz County (California). Go for a walk in the mountains round there and notice the different sorts of vegetation–you can walk through several different microclimates in the space of a half hour.

Western Washington seems to have nothing BUT microclimates, at least north of Olympia. It’s those pesky Olympics stirring things up…

We’ve had a lot less snow than usual in Southwestern Ontario (Canada) this year. I can’t recall a winter with so little. We’ve got snow on the ground at the moment but today’s forecast is for rain.
