I now have my official atheist chick bling

I’m not typically into jewelry, but when I saw Surly-Ramics, I knew I needed one. Surly Amy (who’s also a Skepchick) is a wonderful artist who produces awesome skeptical, atheist, and science themed jewelry (amongst other things). I had been lurking on Etsy, waiting for the perfect color, but I finally found exactly what I was looking for:Yep, that’s Darwin’s sketch of the tree of life. As a female evolutionary biologist, I’m pretty much required to get this due to overwhelming awesomeness (plus, I loved the color). I’ll definitely be wearing this to my evolution class and lab!
Thanks, Amy!

Nice picture! I need to get some sciency things to wear. So many things to choose from. Yet chances are I will likely get something that can tick off people.

I've been resisting a Surly piece for quite some time. All, the trials of unemployment.

There's a local chiropractic clinic hiring. If I took a woo job to earn money to buy skeptical paraphernalia, does that make me a horrible person?

Very nice. And with mothers day coming up soon I think I may very well get something similar for Mrs me. Next time though, can you get someone else to take the photo so its better posed. :)

I don't want to be rude, but since you are a biologist, it is probably ok for me to ask the question which is normally rude in a social situation. Are you ovulating?

    Joe:

I do, but I don't think we should discuss it here. She doesn't want us to.

    Jen:

Get rid of my previous comment, if you don't feel comfortable discussing it.

I assumed the “ovulating” comment was a joke, but regardless it seems to be in poor taste…

No, it isn’t a joke. I was afraid to ask, but after considering the fact that Jen is a biologist, I decided to ask that question as a pure scientific inquiry. If you don’t understand and have misunderstood, watch the Discovery Channel. I’m sure Jen knows what I am talking about.

Aha! I knew it! Well, I rather suspected than knew that it was Darwin’s squiggle.

Ha! that’s funny, I ordered a similar one today. It’s got the Darwin tree but circular and bright blue. This will be my third one, I’m addicted now!
