Disclaimer: This is not supposed to mean evolutionary biologists are hostile to any contrary evidence. It’s a joke. I hate to have to include this, but I know if I don’t this comic will get picked up by some creationist site as proof that we’re all dogmatic Darwinists. Actually, that’s probably going to happen anyway, so oh well.

Veritas, the bigger question is which stone do you use to make Darwin evolve?

Mike: That depends on what you want him to evolve into. If you want him to evolve into Darwinzard, you use the Fire Crystal. If you want him to evolve into Electrodarwin, you use the Shock Crystal.
Fuck, it's been too long since I played a Pokemon game, I don't think that makes much pokesense at all. Pika!

… Pokémon … overload … regressing into … early childhood … aaaaaargh … *zzzt*
Other than that, fine comic as usual, Jen. Though I didn't know Darwin to be so vain about his theory as to knock someone out should he disprove it … ;-)

The thing is, though, there's nothing in Natural Selection to disallow metamorphosis. It happens enough in the natural world as is. Thinking back to my primary school days, I remember a pokémon with explicit larval, pupal, and adult stages… Lemme think… Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree.
Ok, I cheated, I had to check the list on Wikipedia.
I'll admit, I'm not sure how the whole phantasmagorical, instant, electrical metamorphosis would have evolved, but I'd be pretty fun to theorize.

Ian: Sure.
Joé: They're drawings on a computer, can you get DNA from the internet? If so, does it come up Al Gore?

Well, the problem is not that the prof disproves Natural Selection – it's that he's so damn smug about it.
He deserves the walloping.

Oak deserved it for being so smug about sleeping with Ash's mom.
And surprisingly, Veritas, that made a disturbing amount of sense. It only makes sense that Darwin would evolve like an Eevee.
Also, there are only 151 pokemon.

YES! This is the best blog ever! =3 Now show Jessie and James battling Jessie James! …I was going to make a joke about another real-world scientist, but I couldn’t think of one that was directly related to biology off the top of my head. ;w; My nerd-fu is weak.
