Omg Harry Potter

I’m off to go stand in line with my friends for the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Gleeeeee! Crossing my fingers that it’s an Alan Rickman filled movie, since Snape is kind of important in this one. Just a bit.

No costume this year, just wearing my Republicans for Voldemort shirt. Really should have gotten the Wizard Pride shirt, but I guess it’ll have to wait for Movie 7. That’s where all the Dumbledore/Grindelwald gayness happens anyway. What, what costume did I wear before? Because I have no shame, here you go (click for larger):

Yep, me as Hermione. Woo. That was at the release for the 6th book back when I was 17, the summer before my senior year of high school. I still have my SPEW and Prefect badge somewhere. That was four years ago…yikes. I’m going to go run to the movie theater before I start feeling old.

Ha! Nice… hooray for midnight openings! I went with my folks and was in a dementor outfit… aka my ever-so-perfect-for-infinite-costumes bvlack robe, with some alterations.

I have a Mad-Eye Moody costume that I put together a few years ago and I went to the last movie and the book 7 release in. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my eyepiece holder last night. I'm going to have to make a new one before the next film, because I make that costume *work*

Well, as well as a mid-twenties Moody can, that is. :-P

If you like Alan Rickman and haven’t seen Judas Kiss, allow me to recommend it.

Just so you know, you can skip some of the line for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter ride if you enter through the adjacent store, then walk into the lockers, then join in the confusion and enter the line there (requires the line to be long enough to reach the lockers, but that is quite likely). Not that I or anyone I know condone line skipping…(This strategy may no longer be valid, as I last witnessed it being used a week after the ride opened.)

Having been there myself, have some unsolicited tips:-Get to the park EARLY. If you try to get there later, even like around 10, there’ll be a 2 hour line just to get into the park, then another two for Forbidden Journey. Get there the second it’s open, and the lines’ll be short for an hour or so – plenty of time to do all three rides.-Or, go there late. By closing time the lines are really short too.-Take single rider on Forbidden Journey. I rode the ride three times in a row, no line, by doing this (granted, at night, and I was super nauseous afterward)However, I was going during the summer, and you’re going in the winter, so some of this may be moot. Also, somewhat off topic, but since you like harry potter you should totally watch this:

Another way to cut down on the wait is to use the single rider line. Blinders come down near your head when you get in the vehicle so you can’t see the person your riding with anyway. Take the warning about “empting your pockes” seriously, there is a small indentation in the seats (whick you then sit on) where you can put wallets and stuff (wands won’t fit). Get the regular Butter Beer, not the frozen.

I’ll be heading there in February with my nieces and other family, look forward to hearing what you thought of the park(and any tips like the ones above!)

Nice, If you happen to stay on the property you can also get the speed pass and the ability to enter the park early. While I found it pretty cool, it is way, way to small.

Enjoy! I live down here but I’m such a Disney nut I haven’t been able to drag my rabid-Potter-fan self past the gates of the Rat that Ate Orlando to make it to Universal.Darned chilly today, though. Okay, for Florida, that is.

Sort of a tangent, but according to http://www.torontosun.com/news… “The Salvation Army says it refuses to distribute Harry Potter and Twilight toys collected for needy children because they’re incompatible with the charity’s Christian beliefs.”Apparently it’s only in alberta.

Bring a sweater… It’s cold here (by Florida standards). And thank you for making me feel like a terrible mother. We live two hours away, and I still haven’t brought my Harry Potter-crazed child to the park.

I hadn’t even known such a thing existed. I was holding off until they opened a philosophy theme park, but then I realized it would just be a giant bar wherein people argued with each other. I suppose we don’t really need a theme park for that.

I was there yesterday. It would still work. There is a bunch of confusion by people who think the rules posted in 4 places (and announced multiple times in line) apply to them and bring purses/bags/etc onto the ride. The other part of going on the ride, Jen, is to ignored the signs saying to go left at the front of the park to get into Harry Potter area. Go towards Seuss Landing and cross the bridge at Lost Continent. You will miss the huge lines they make for people entering through Hogsmeade or Jurassic Park.

That’s the way of it. Those who live near an attraction just feel like “it’s always gonna be there, we’ll do it some other weekend.”

Thank you so much for the link, I haven’t been able to stop laughing since I put it on and they’re not bad singers either. Though I do wish they’d have worn wireless microphones to clean up the audio, when the audience laughs its hard to hear some of the dialog.

I used to give to the Salvation Army toy drive every year but this really ticked me off, lots of kids love Harry Potter and Twilight and would have been jazzed to get those toys for Christmas. I figure since they had enough to throw away donations I’d just give my money to another charity. So I gave to the local Food Bank instead.
