Catch-up travel blogging from Christmas week.

After work on Tuesday night, the Hubby and I boarded a flight from Minneapolis to Baltimore, Maryland. My mom picked us up at BWI at 11:00pm (My mom is pretty awesome) and drove us to Hagerstown through some seriously thick fog; I kept my eyes shut for quite a few parts of the the hour-long trip. We made it home without incident and hit the sack almost before the front door was locked.

On Wednesday we drove down to Frederick to have lunch with my sister and to stop in at Costco for a few last minute pre-Christmas purchases (mmmm….Costco on Christmas Eve…). After that we returned to Hagerstown where me, the Hubby, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my mom would spend the next day and a half playing board games, annoying the pets, and generally eat-drink-and-be-merrying.

A Christmas tree and a shelf loaded up with holiday decorations. At first glance nothing looks amiss, but a closer look at one of the shelves shows that someone has taken a series of letters that spelled "Santa" and rearranged them to spell "Satan."

Somebody left my brother-in-law alone with the Christmas decorations for too long. He gets bored easily.

On Friday the whole gang drove up to Pennsylvania to take a tour of the Gettysburg battlefield…err…battlefields. It was an amazing experience. Because December 26th is apparently off-season for touring outdoor monuments, we managed to have a tour guide all to ourselves! And oh…he was good. He really seemed to like his job, and he knew All The Things about Gettysburg, and about a good many other civil war-related topics. The scheduled 2.5 hour tour ran into a four-hour tour (in the good way). The company definitely deserves a shout-out, so if you’re looking for a good Gettysburg tour service, I recommend Historic Tour Company.

The weather was unseasonably mild, so we rode around in their 1936 Yellowstone bus. We started out near Long Lane, looking out over the field in front of McMillan woods. Our guide gave us a modern history of the importance of Gettysburg in teaching military battlefield strategy and infantry tactics. We drove through the town and saw buildings that showed divots from musket balls and had cannon shell casings lodged in them. We saw Cemetery Hill, Seminary Ridge, Little Round Top and Big Round Top, The Wheatfield, The Trostle Barn. We learned about so many famous figures. The ones that stand out for me were Major General Daniel Sickles, General George Mead, Colonel Strong Vincent, General James Longstreet, Jennie Wade and Mag Palm.

And guys…I’m not a huge history buff. It’s amazing the difference a great storyteller and guide makes.

One of the fields where skirmishes took place. We learned that the fences were built like this because they provide a barrier without needing to have post holes dug into the ground. They’re also flexible and can be taken down and set up in other places as needed.

The Eternal Light Peace Memorial commemorates the 50th anniversary of Gettysburg (1913). President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the key address to approximately 250,000 attendees. A number of Gettysburg veterans were in attendance, including a 112 year-old member of the US Colored Troops, William Barnes.

We had another day of relaxing and hanging around in Hagerstown on Saturday and Sunday morning, and then it was time to head back to Baltimore for our flight home to Minneapolis. But we had one thing left to do. The Hubby is a huge fan of 1990s police procedural Homicide: Life on the Street. Which was shot and based in Baltimore, Maryland. Where we were going to be.

So we took the HLOTS tour through Fells Point. It was a self-guided tour. There are no signs indicating that a major television series was shot here, and when we stopped in to the Waterfront bar – featured in the show and used as an after-filming hangout for cast and crew – the bartender barely nodded when the Hubby asked if this was the same place. It definitely doesn’t feel like a major tourist stop.

We still had a few moments before we wanted to be at BWI, so we decided to drive through the city to see Edgar Allen Poe’s grave at Westminster Burial Grounds. What a cool place. It was drizzling and we were short on time, but it was eerie and awe-inspiring to be at the burial site of such a well-known author, one who I read quite a bit in high school and college. I could spend a lot more time checking out the other inhabitants of the grounds.

And that was it! Back to Minneapolis with another successful holiday vacation with the family under our belt.

В одном маленьком пруду без особых проблем уживутся 60 взрослых особей карасей и 30 карпов. А еще и плюс маленькие рыбки!
    4. Все особи карповых не перебирают пищу. Они едят червей, личинки и насекомых. В виде дополнительной пищи для набора веса им можно высыпать распаренные крупы. Неплохо пойдет и комбинированный корм, смешанный с водой. Кормить обитателей водоема нужно 2-3 раза в день в одном и том же месте и по часам. Осенью их порция должна увеличиваться, так как рыбы в пруду готовятся к зиме.
    5. Плотва – это самый лучший «сосед» для карпа. Эти жители с радостью съедают водоросли, поэтому если их запустить в водоем – вы избежите цветения воды.
    6. Если ваша цель не вылавливать рыбу, а наоборот разводить ее для красоты сада, то рассмотрите таких особей. Прежде всего, это гольян из семейства карповых . Очаровательные рыбки с идеальным узором на спинке. Длиной около 10 сантиметров. Живут от 3 до 4 лет. Летом им не хватает воздуха, поэтому заранее подумайте об аэрации. Относятся к стадным видам рыб, поэтому и заводить их необходимо не по одному.

При желании, насос легко демонтировать из источника воды и опять погрузить в воду. При соблюдении условий эксплуатации вибрационные насосы способны работать в течение многих лет, не требует смазки и заливки водой, может быть включен сразу после погружения в воду. Устройство и принцип работы станции Насосная станция «АКВАРОБОТ М» состоит из следующих основных узлов: Погружного вибрационного электронасоса «БАВЛЕНЕЦ». Гидроаккумулятора. Устройства «PM/5-3W» (объединяющего реле давления, манометр, штуцер). Обратного клапана. Погружной вибрационный электронасос состоит из 3-х основных узлов: ярма, вибратора и основания. В основании имеются отверстия, прикрытые резиновым клапаном. На выходной патрубок с помощью хомута крепится шланг. Подача воды осуществляется из напорной камеры, ограниченной резиновым клапаном и поршнем. В результате вибрационных колебаний электромагнитного привода поршень совершает возвратно-поступательное движение и выталкивает под напором воду из выходного патрубка. Шланг соединяет выходной патрубок насоса с блоком управления станцией, включающим гидроаккумулятор и устройство «PM/5-3W». Устройство «PM/5-3W» cмонтированно непосредственно на гироаккумуляторе соответствующего объема. Это устройство автоматически включает насос, когда давление в водопроводной сети ниже порогового уровня (заводская установка — 1,5 атм) и выключает насос, когда давление в водопроводной сети превышает верхний порог (заводская установка — 3 атм). Давление включения насоса регулируется в пределах от 1 атм до 2,5 атм. Давление выключения насоса регулируется в пределах от 1,8 атм до 4,5 атм. Гидроаккумулятор поддерживает давление в водопроводной сети в заданных пределах. Открываем кран — вода поступает потребителю из гидроаккумулятора. По мере расходования воды из гидроаккумулятора давление в водопроводной сети падает. Когда давление упадет ниже порога включения, устройство управления включает насос. Насос подает воду потребителю. Кран закрываем, насос продолжает некоторое время работать, пополняя запас воды в гидроаккумуляторе. По мере наполнения гидроаккумулятора давление в водопроводной сети возрастает. Когда давление достигнет порога выключения, устройство управления выключает насос. Монтаж и ввод в эксплуатацию Для ввода в эксплуатацию насосных станций «АКВАРОБОТ М» необходимо: Подсоединить станцию к водопроводной сети потребителя. Для этого присоединить выход устройства «PM/5-3W» (внутренняя резьба 1″) к основной трубе системы водоснабжения потребителя, объединяющей все точки водоразбора. Соединить выходной патрубок насоса с обратным клапаном, установленным на устройстве «PM/5-3W». Для этого предпочтительно использовать гибкие пластиковые шланги диаметром 20 мм. Для облегчения надевания конец шланга можно размягчить в горячей воде. Концы шланга затяните хомутами. Для обеспечения плотной затяжки рекомендуем подложить полоску, вырезанную из шланга. Присоединять насос к жестким трубам следует только через гибкий шланг длиной не менее 2 метров. Опустить насос в источник воды. Руководствуйтесь Схемой установки насоса в водоем. Глубина погружения насоса не должна превышать 3 метров. Расстояние от гидроаккумулятора до зеркала воды в водоеме по вертикали не должно превышать 30 метров. Расстояние от дна водоема должно быть не меньше 30 см. Для крепления насоса в водоеме привяжите подвеску (3) (входит в комплект станции) к проушине насоса. Другой конец подвески закрепите на перекладине (7), как показано на схеме установки насоса в водоем. При погружении насоса в скважину, наденьте на насос защитное кольцо (9). Скрепите кабель (5), шланг (6) и подвеску связками (2) через промежутки 1 – 2 метра; Подключите станцию к источнику электропитания с напряжением 220 В. Станция готова к работе. Насос не должен работать более 2-х часов непрерывно. После 2 часов непрерывной работы сделайте перерыв на 15 – 20 минут. Не допускается замерзание воды в станции.
