Ambiguous Church Sign

This isn’t really a target for Sloganizing Atheism because it’s not denying science (well, unless you take it to be a literal sentence; then it’s contradictory), it’s not proselytizing (at at least not doing it well) or even really talking about God (as far as I can tell). It’s just one of those things that makes you go hmmm…

What the hell do you think they’ll getting at with this sign?

Thanks to Louise for this confusing submission.

“God’s better than the Titanic, so, nyah!”

It’s all I got. This makes no sense to me either.

Yeah, I think that’s about right. Human beings are arrogant to think that they can do stuff, like make an unsinkable ship. God’s job is to smack down such hubris.

    Sooo… God is an iceberg?

    I’m confused…

Reason is the iceberg. Faith is the Titanic.

I suspect they’re having a little existential angst of late.

America gets compared to the Titanic, secularism is the iceberg. Something about gays and atheists eating babies.

Apparently, they’re trying to point out that their God was responsible for sinking the Titanic. Notch up another 1500 innocent people for the genocidal dick.

Can God build a boat so buoyant that even he cannot sink it?

It means faithful Methodists of Smith Valley will no longer trust what they read in the maritime pages of the popular press of 1912, thank you very much!

Also, F @12: The boat you describe is the iceberg itself, which came from the ocean, and instead of sinking, returns to the state from whence it came. UR MYND IZ BLOANE. Now go and have a delicious lunch!

This must be The Church of the Congregation of the Sacred Iceberg
