They took a screenshot of what they were going to write and emailed the file to you?

No, I took the screenshot because I thought it captured the poetry better than copy/paste.

I’m blind and the image doesn’t have alt text provided.
Could you please keep this in mind for future posts and either provide alt text, a description of what the image shows, or a copy/paste of the text instead of a screenshot.

It says:
I am tired of you, being ashamed of yourself.
I’d rather see you continue, to self-destruction, and gone from the world.
I do not wish to explain anything.
You are a clown, and a nuisance to decent people.
Kill youself, and know that the world is better without you.
Release us all, from the agony of your idiocy.
Let us know that we have acted correctly, is being free from worries of what you might do.
Be free of Satan, and let us be free of you.

Religion of love right?
Maybe it’s just me but even people I really dislike or think are hurting others I don’t suggest they go end it all. Seems pretty damn heartless to me.

Projection?
I’d rather see you continue, to self-destruction, and gone from the world/b>
More projection?
I do not wish to explain anything
Well, we’re picking up where theists dropped the ball, so chill, we got this.
You are a clown, and a nuisance to decent people
Perhaps so, but someone had to force the issue on slave owners who thought their “tradition” was Biblically endorsed.
Kill yourself, and know that the world is better without you
I bring greatness to the world, what are you talking about?
Yes, the world would be better if I wasn’t around to remind them that opting for prayer over medicine is a bad idea, that discriminating against homosexuals is bad, that promoting independent and critical thinking is good. Exactly.
Release us all, from the agony of your idiocy
More projection. I’m not the one who believes in fairy tales.
Let us know that we have acted correctly, in being free from worries of what you might do
What I might do? Like enforce secularism, maintaining a free and open society? Like defending your freedom of religion as well? For promoting science and education so the level of societal health increases and people live happier lives? Generally, I’m happy to live and let life, if only you’d let me.
What are you talking about? I’m not an axe murderer.
Be free of satan, and let us be free of you
I’m way ahead of you. I’m also free of the tooth fairy, santa claus, species 8472, and most importantly, Pinky and the Brain.
I’ll cut you a deal. Stop imposing your insanity on everyone else, cooperate in an open secular society, and we’ll leave you alone.

Is this from a believer to an atheist, or an atheist to a believer? Until I read your post, I thought it was an AE fan sharing his poem.
I am tired of you, being ashamed of yourself
I am tired of Christians thinking they would be worthless without god.
I’d rather see you continue, to self-destruction, and gone from the world
A bit drastic, but it’s not hard to find atheists with militant attitudes on the net.
I do not wish to explain anything
Exactly how I feel when believers want an answer to abiogenesis, or what caused the big bang.
You are a clown, and a nuisance to decent people
An almost diplomatic description of many religious nuts.
Kill yourself, and know that the world is better without you
I wouldn’t advocate suicide, but some other atheists may. The world would be better if it had a few less undamentalists though.
Release us all, from the agony of your idiocy
Please!
Let us know that we have acted correctly, in being free from worries of what you might do
Thought this was just a poetic way of saying, once you get a grip on reality come back and chill with us and laugh about what you once believed.
Be free of satan, and let us be free of you
Yes, be free of satan, god, jesus and all the other self imposed burdens. Begone man of faith, and return a man of reason.

There have certainly been times where I’ve felt like that after a discussion with a theist.

Such beauty! It’s proof that the Christian Invisible Omnipotent Sky Wizard exists, for how could something so beautiful be created without a source of ultimate beauty from which it must stem!

I’ve never cared for that particular quote, as it is way too simplistic. I become angry on principle whenever I hear racist ideas, and I think I have some pretty damn good reasons for opposing racism.
It’s also possible to be angry at an idea that has caused you or others significant harm, while still having a rational justification for why said idea is bad.

Either way it’s a shame to degrade all the people having this name. We should expect this to be a fake name, even if it has only the purpose to clear everyone with this name from any responsibility to this email.

It would be difficult creatively for me to match adroit writing such as Mr. Olsen’s. Fortunately for us all, it isn’t too hard for the great Reed Rothchild, whose poetry provides an apt response (only fair to give as good as one gets).
A Poem I Wrote
by Reed Rothchild
I love you, you love me
Going down the sugar tree
We’ll go down the sugar tree, and see lots of bees:
playing, playing…
But the bees won’t sting, because you love me

“I’m also free of … species 8472″
Always wondered if atheists are more likely to be trekkies, or the other way around. Or if it’s completely incidental.

The weak shall perish,
They often do.
We said it to the borg,
They called us Eight Four Seven Two.
From a place of life,
We came to bring you fear.
Then we met the Janeway,
Please get us out of here!

I think it’s the other way around, myself.
The same thing that lets be analytic and considerate enough to question our beliefs to the point of becoming atheists would also account for having tastes in more sophisticated genres of TV show.
I think.
Most TV/Movies bore the species 8472 out of me. Decent scifi comes around on occasion.

It is just speculation, but Star Trek would seem to foster a love of technology and science, which in turn would spur an interest in skilled logic and critical thinking, and of course in turn atheism.
Very generally speaking of course. Likewise the reverse route from atheism to Star Trek is equally viable. They all more or less go hand in hand fairly naturally, if only in a very broad and generic sense.
They are not inevitable or mutually required interests in any way, but the do seem to end up in similar groupings quite frequently.
