Heads up for the Atheist Experience show this weekend

Let this be a teaser to all you viewers out there:

Something unusual is happening on the show this weekend. It is my guess that it will either be a successful something that will make this a widely discussed show, or it will be a spectacular flame-out. Either way, you won’t want to miss it. A new thread will appear a few minutes before the show ends so you can discuss which it was.

Word on the street is that something entirely unrelated but no less unusual and cool will also happen at the post-show dinner at Threadgill’s. If you are in Austin, You. Will. Attend.

Update: I really apologize for this, but due to circumstances beyond our control, the unusual thing for the show is postponed until next month. The dinner thing is still happening. Again, I am sorry for getting up everyone’s interest prematurely.

I bet that idiot "George From NY" will show up. That would be just like him.Lock the studio doors before the show starts – better yet, weld them shut..

Hah, George. my wife and I would love to meet you in person. Come to Austin anytime!I'll definitely be trying my hardest to go to threadgills this weekend. Stupid work schedule has been keeping me busy and tired.

Don't you get it? George IS Aaron Ra, he just sits inside a papier-mache suit and puts on a voice to do the videos.Papier-mache made out of a lifetime's worth of voice acting rejection letters. ;)

Won't work, GFNY. That guy's obnoxiousness won't be contained by mere steel.Though to be serious, I've always enjoyed your calls. If it's not going to be an irascible theist, it might as well be an erudite atheist with a pleasant speaking voice.Anyway, no fair! I usually wait for the podcast. I meant to specifically this weekend, because my parents are visiting, and I don't think they're in AE's target demographic. (Though they probably would let me put it on if I asked, and it might lead to interesting conversation, so I may try.)AronRa is a good call, Petr, Matt did mention him last week. My money's on Ray Comfort, though. Not too likely, but how cool would that be? Maybe he and Russell could get into a banana fight… to the death.

argh, yet another reason to be in Austin. And no Skeptics in the Pub in sight in my state of residence;_; Sunshine State, my ass.

@George:I was irritated and confused until I read the name…good one.But yeah, I'm guessing AronRa. Should be most excellent.

    stronger now

I was planning to sleep Sunday afternoon so I can go to work Sunday night in a somewhat rested condition because the following few days there are exams to take and essays due. Did I mention I have to fix my truck. I'm going to stay up and watch, but.. This. Better. Be. Good.I mean sporktastickly good.Aron Ra and Matt D. vs. Banana Man and his sidekick Camoron good.

Is Matt doing the show topless? Will it be hosted by Moohammed and the FSM?

    Rhys Halliwell

It's the special "the whole crew converts to Christianity because Jesus appears in the studio and demonstrates his powers" episode that we have all been waiting for.

Martin, I can tell from the careful mix of excitement and trepidation in your comment: I'm right. It's Ray Comfort.Everybody, I called it here first.

Well, you guys are really pulling out all the stops on the speculating, aren't you? As vivid as your imaginations are, now I'm worried the whole thing may be a big letdown.

    Guillaume

Seriously, do they sell microbrewery beers at Threadgill's? I always wondered.

  23. 23
    Elipson

Hmmm… Martin downplaying the whole event.. must mean it's even greater then people have suggested!I'm guessing a 4 way boxing match!Satan and Matt vs God and RusselThe winner gets to pick what dish God will appear in next!

  24. 24
    Martin

Guillaume: I don't think so. The whole microbrewery fad kind of came and went through Austin in the 90's.

Thor, what's with the goats on fire thing? This guy called DM keeps posting on my page about Nostradamus and flaming goats or some crap. I keep deleting it. His IP address is in Quebec, Canada.

I do not understand what the big deal is. Matt said that AronRa is a done deal and 5 days later we are informed that there is going to be a guest on the show. Coincidence? No. There must be some higher power behind all of this.

"Thor, what's with the goats on fire thing?"Check Pharyngula's post of the same title from yesterday. You may be getting spammed by the same person. So no suprise, eh? I guess there's no reason to stream the episode tomorrow after all. (Kidding!)

Admin, for info on the 'GOATS ON FIRE!' reference, please google "GOATS ON FIRE". That is all.

  29. 29
    Guillaume

@Martin-That's a shame, nothing goes with a good burger like some microbrewery beer. I am surprised it didn't take off in Austin. Oh well, it's not like I can be in Austin any time soon, sadly.

Goats on Fire sounds like a kickass Styx or Lady Gaga song.

  31. 31
    Thomas

@INGYou know, I could see Lady Gaga actually dressing like a goat on fire for one of her videos…But not for a song that has anything to do with goats or fire…That would be too normal for her.
