Looks like all that time I spent playing Left 4 Dead may pay off

It would seem that zombies have infested the streets of Austin.

Somebody fetch me my auto-shotgun and some pain pills.

Hunter!!Hopefully, if there ever are zombies, they’ll be good ol viral zombies with no thinking capacity. Just hunks of rotting flesh with legs, arms and a mouth that want to clamber toward things that move and eat them. I think they’d be a lot more manageable than the hunters and crazy berserker zombies in L4D.Also, for more zombie goodness, check out this video.

I’m thankful that we have Kazim to save the day! I can sleep safely at night now, knowing that Russell’s protecting the streets from the roving undead.

That’s fantastic! I’d guess someone saw this site, which was linked to by b3ta.com last week.

I saw that the other day and just about fell out of my chair laughing. It is also good the company has a sense of humor and is not filing a police report.

I found a Pipe Bomb here!Just as long as there are no tanks, I think we will be fine.

That’s pretty funny, but I’m uncomfortable with the idea of teenagers overriding warning messages. On the other hand, if a sign is otherwise not displaying a real safety warning I can’t complain.Speaking of tampering with signs, I was visiting New England this past summer and saw several “pedestrian crossing” signs – the ones with no words but a figure of a man walking – where someone had placed a hula-hoop around the guy. You know, I have to agree, the auto shotgun really is the best weapon in the game.

Nono, not a shotgun. You want a blunt weapon. A baseball bat can’t run out of ammo. See “The Zombie Survival Guide” for more details. When I was living in San Francisco, there would be zombie crawls sometimes. Word would go around on the internet, and so a bunch of people would meet at a certain BART station and be zombies all over the road, walking down Market. Or you could always arrange to be “bitten” somewhere along the way. It was truly awesome.

I dig the auto-shotgun myself. Most people seem to prefer the submachine gun, but I find it hard to hold onto ammo for very long.Plus, the auto-shotgun is awesome for effortlessly piling up kills. When I hear the “incoming horde rush” music, I generally plant in a hallway facing behind my team, crouch down, and start blasting them at point blank range. I can clear out many waves without reloading if I time it right.

There are more threats than just zombies in L4D.http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=NW8tE93Vx8Q

@Alice:I don’t know if all the rules in the Zombie Survival Guide apply to L4D’s brand of zombies. The ones in L4D are definitely more of the rabid 28-days-later variety. That and some of them seem to have “powers” or “abilities”, something that Max Brooks (ZSG) probably wouldn’t approve of. Still a blast to shoot, though.I agree though, for the more classic, lumbering corpse zombies, an auto shotgun wouldn’t be very helpful. Youd need a machete for up close and something like an M1 for range.

That article is hilariously pathetic. At the end they fish around for the reason behind the changes and speculate that it might be due to the “Nazi Zombies” in CoD or that Dead Snow movie. It’s really funny when the average uninformed person tries to figure out the roots of memes and identifies another product of the overall arch as the source.

    they’re a bit early aren’t they? I thought Easter was Zombie season…

Alice,in the novel ‘Halting State’ by Charles Stross, they use a ‘zombie crawl’ event like you describe as a diversion for a criminal escape. That’s the first time I heard about these events, but until you posted here I’d not known people really had them.
